The real question is does Xbox make a profit for MS and that includes Xbox Live, Xbox Music, Xbox Video. We really don't know due to those numbers being grouped with other devices such as Surface and now Lumia because that all falls under the entertainment and devices category which makes money.

Generation 7- Introduction to HD
Generation 6- Refinement of 3D era
Generation 5- Introduction of 3D era

Generations are determined by time periods not the power of the console. Therefore the Wii U is in the eighth generation along with PS4 and Xbox One.
Also the Wii was in the same generation as the PS3 and Xbox 360.
