I agree for the most part on what you are saying but you are assuming that even though PS3 hasn't put up PS2 numbers it would still be a "playoff" team which is hard to see as it hasn't put up even half of the sales and the market share has been depleted. If PS3 had 100M sales then I would say sure that analogy works.

If Apple had a competent gaming ecosystem like what Gamecenter should be but with better functionality than they would be primed to take mobile gaming by storm even then they still will dominate in sales just from the numbers the iPhone 5 will sell.

Depends on what you call success and what it is relative to.
Relative to PS2 the PS3 is a failure as relative to this generation it has been good. But then yet again relative to the PS2 all systems are failures. The same misconception that people said Xbox had no business in the market.
The same can be said to the Wii-U it has a tall order to follow the success of the Wii and many people are calling it a failure but what people say clearly doesn't follow ...
I personally think the iPhone 5 is great for gaming as it makes indie games cheaper and readily available and it is one of the most most powerful devices out right now which is sadly likely to change in a few months but that's how technology goes.

Doubt it will happen or even work. It will lose numerous writers and directors. There has been two franchises that gave made the transitions and others ones have such a hard time doing it.

I don't game on my PS3 anymore really. I still have it but since most games are mulitplatform there hasn't been a need to as of right now.
People really act like EA isn't s business that must make money. It isn't that serious. If people didn't want or like EA games they wouldn't buy them but the consumer continuously does.

That is such a silly comparison. 4K TV's are going to be at such a price that the average consumer won't buy it.
4K is a standard that is unlikely to be adopted by cable providers and media providers and we don't have the necessary infrastructure or technology to take control of that resolution.
