A physical release will be announced within the next year. It’s a similar situation to how movies are released in 4K. They will release a standard copy and then a few months later release a steelbook version. It’s a simple marketing tactic to get collectors to double dip.
We all have to accept this is the reality with games as big as GTA nowadays. Long gone are the days of getting a sequel every 2-3 years or 5 years. Games like this now take a minimum of ten years. They cost so much to make now that the publishers milk every last dollar from them.
Great now announce the next Ghost of Tsushima game!
The Last of Us Part 1 shouldn’t have been full price because it is basically the same game as before but at least effort was put in from a graphical and gameplay perspective. This is just a mere re-release and nothing more. It should be the same price as the Xbox One version with a 4K upscale. Why the devs and publishers think it’s ok to charge a higher price for less content is simply corporate greed.
I’m sure Horizon 3 has already started development so that’s a no-brainer
Exactly. By trying to spend loads of money and effectively ruining developers and the entire game industry as a whole. But hey at least they’ll “own” the game industry.
If Microsoft were to monopolize the market like they are clearly trying to do, we should all say goodbye to great games. They clearly destroy nearly every company under them. I wish nothing but failure for Microsoft. This makes me fear for the video game industry as a whole.
Square Enix doesn’t like releasing their games on Xbox because they don’t sell nearly enough to warrant it. That why Final Fantasy 7 Remake hasn’t come to Xbox and I wouldn’t even bet on XVI coming to Xbox either.
I would definitely wait until Series X has an actual RPG that releases to critical acclaim before buying one. There’s so many developers that either don’t release their games on Xbox at all or opt for a significant period of timed exclusivity on Playstation. That’s telling of which console sells the most games and is most profitable for developers.
Next year I’d bet we get Silent Hill 2, Stellar Blade, Rise of the Ronin, FF7 Rebirth. And possibly Factions and Wolverine. Although Factions and Wolverine may come in 2025 or later
Because FF 16 is releasing in three weeks.
I am sure the game will release in a physical format within two years after its release date, thus tempting many people to double dip.
I’m just happy Mileena is in. She’ll be the only character I play as per usual.
I’d say Spider Man 2, Final Fantasy 16, Stellar Blade, Silent Hill 2 remake and some third party games will be a part of the showcase. But beyond that is anyone’s guess. Hopefully we hear more about what Sonys plans are for 2024 and beyond. The only games we know of for the future are the Last of Us multiplayer and Rise of the Ronin.
I think Final Fantasy 16 or Spider Man 2 will change that this year.
I’d bet it does not.
No. They need to remake Code Veronica next.
I’d love for my PS5 to play PS3 game discs. This would have made the PS5 come at a higher price though. If you’ve streamed a PS3 game you should know it’s a mixed bag. A lot of the time they don’t run too well. But the only game that I really want is GTA 4.
I don’t think it will be worse, but it won’t be drastically different. It looks like the same just remastered. So I’d call that better but I have seen remasters messed up before so we will see.
I think that’s because they are busy pivoting most of their studios into the GaaS model and figuring out the best way to do that.
