Granted, I'd have loved to have Golden Abyss on here as I've never had the chance to play it, but how is the lack of a Vita installment from a completely different dev & the lack of mp for 3 sp focused titles considered a deal breaker? To each their own, maybe multiplayer was a big draw for you when it comes to Uncharted games, but the sp is where it's at for me. Any reason to replay the best trilogy of last gen is enough for me personally. I just wish they'd replace that ...
Those are also the same people who will tell you that the Halo MCC was a great game worthy of high praise even without the mp when it was broken. Somehow it's fine to want to replay those Halo campaigns when it's the only thing that works, but when a package like the UC collection comes out w/o the mp portion, it's somehow wrong for people to be excited to play through the campaigns of a game that was specifically built for sp vs. a title that made its bread & butter off of mp...
ND said in the Game Informer reveal article that there will be a much larger focus on optional treasure hunting threads w/ their own dedicated narratives, so I'd say you are most definitely right. Really interested to see what it'll be like, hell I had fun just picking up the easy treasures in the last games because it was just fun to scour every inch of the environments, now we will have even more reason to do so!
I personally think the rollout of ReCore & Sea of Thieves was a bit bungled (the former more than the latter). Horizon showed the proper way to reveal a new ip: with a large chunk of proper compelling gameplay. Imagine if the first look we got a ReCore was actual gameplay first & those important creators shown in the final frame. That would've made for a true reveal. What we got instead was yet another cg trailer for a game w/ only the promise of its creators to go on. It was larg...
I'd personally rather have a solid & well built smaller package than a larger broken one (also, Uncharted is obviously a single player experience first & foremost while Halo has typically been a multiplayer experience first, and its fair to say that a large majority of launch purchasers picked the game up in order to play online). Its great that they've fixed it but it should've never shipped as a broken product, no matter how great the rest of its components were. It was ...
MS absolutely should hold a fan based conference like PSX. I think that's where the future of cons are going. Too many closed off to the general public at this point, each platform should hold a conference for their fans to allow them to get hands on w/ their future wares. The media is a bit jaded at this point & that's why we have the narrative that cons are less exciting than they once were or that they are dying out. If they opened them up for the public & even raffled off ...

I definitely agree. Its weird because HoloLens exists in a strange space between public use & home use. It would be most useful in the real world, but Google Glass kinda showcased the problems that arise w/ tech like that in public spaces. In a home setting, the tech isn't there for a wide enough variety of interesting uses at this point. I see it being like Kinect at this point, a lot of potential for use in a business or classroom & very cool soundi...
It absolutely does. I personally just wish there were proper levels leading up to the boss fights. Nothing too huge or extravagant, just a good reason to stay in those beautiful worlds for a bit longer. The art is amazing but the painstaking process kinda held them back a bit in terms of content it seems. Really hoping the team adds a lot of members & they are afforded proper time to make Cuphead 2 something more akin to a traditional side scroller w/ full worlds & levels.
I think the smart money is on a JL game over a standalone Superman game in my opinion. I think the whole idea of the dualplay mechanic from Arkham Knight was meant to be a testing ground for the team dynamic of JL. It just screams Justice League to me, and w/ the very real possibility of Montreal's game being a Suicide Squad title in time for the film, chances of a JL game from Rocksteady in time for any of those films are very high.
That leaked character screen wasn'...

"So that people that read a review weeks or months after a release still think that a game is plagued with the launch bugs?"
Pretty much yes. Regardless of whether or not a game gets cleaned up post launch, there needs to be a penalty to keep devs from releasing broken products. We went decades with solid well built games because there was no safety net of a patch system in place, and now that safety net is being exploited & its the da...
Why? All that would do is waste a lot of funds for bragging rights. Gamers shouldn't rally for corporate moves like these. Tomb Raider as a series already existed & will continue to exist on MS consoles, why waste what would amount to HUGE funds to keep something that is already there? MS would be better off creating their own TR type franchise from the ground up. Its what they should've been doing all along really instead of buying these timed rights at the last minute. Uncharted...
By that metric, Rise of the Tomb Raider & Fable Legends aren't "exclusive" either as they will be available on other platforms or are remastered. So Halo & Forza are the only 2 "exclusives" for the XBO. Games are games, if a title's best version isn't available on the 2 direct competitors, there's virtually little difference between a console exclusive & full exclusive. These boxes serve different purposes & cater to different markets, MS is...
That's coming from WB Montreal, the devs behind Origins. It was already fairly obvious from their easter eggs & the ending of that title, but there have been some rumors thrown around from industry insiders that confirm it, and WB Montreal themselves have said that they are working on an "open world new ip", which would fit Suicide Squad seeing as how no one's ever made a game w/ them.
I personally dig the episodic gaming trend. As someone who has less & less free time to game, its great to play a focused, pointed 2 hour experience as opposed to a sprawling 20 hour epic w/ around 35-40% of unmemorable filler. I don't think all games should go episodic, but I would love to see some beloved franchises take a swing at using episodic gaming to fill in the long stretches between full console feature releases. One in particular that I'd absolutely love to see would be...
No its hitting 360 as well. The claims from the devs are that a totally different dev is porting it to the 360 & that CD will make full use of the XBO but that'll be a difficult mark to hit unless they are willing to cut certain portions or mechanics out altogether. The game will be cool on any platform I'd say but I'd find it hard to believe that making it a cross-gen title won't result in any kind of restraints.
What I don't understand is this: right now we are in a time where there is a bit of an outrage over devs presenting previews of games that aren't indicative of the final quality as they are vertical slices engineered to perform & look better than the actual game is capable of. This is because devs have time to polish up that small slice to perfection because it is meant to be a showcase. If Halo 5's cleaned up showcase piece is problematic, what does that actually point to? Is...
That's the thing about opinions, everyone has one. Some are just wholly unshared by most of the gaming public at large. Naughty Dog are masters of game dev for how they are capable of marrying storytelling, visuals & gameplay in a manner that other devs simply aren't capable of. You may not like Uncharted but the rest of the gaming populace seem to be just fine with it. As far as Uncharted looking scripted it was literally wide open & the player could take any path he chose, t...
Was there a discernible difference for Tomb Raider? I was debating buying it when it was on sale the other day but I don't see how such a quick turnaround could result in that drastic a difference.
Totally agree. I guess that's why people who've never played the games call it "on rails" or "too linear & hand hold-y", because they may have played games by lesser devs who were guilty of those flaws. It's easy to spot someone who hasn't played the series when they start lobbing those criticisms. When you actually get hands on w/ a title of Uncharted or TLOU's caliber, you realize that ND are in a masterclass of game developers that put fun & ...
I personally think they'll be tie ins in release window only. I'd say the likely Rocksteady JL game and the obvious WB Montreal Suicide Squad title will both still be set in the Arkham world, building on successful franchises as opposed to trying to shoehorn the characters into poor movie tie in fodder. The only potential issue that could arise is if WB puts the devs under the gun to have the games released in the timeframe of the films regardless of the quality. It'll all depend ...
