Very true but it's better than nothing.
I wonder though, if this is true, if he wasn't happy with the final product of the game. The game at it's core is a solid good game, with a werid cover system at times. But, IMO, the story in SOCOM 1 and 2 were better than SOCOM 4's story, despite them talking so much on how they wanted to make a "good" offline story mode. The online part is fine with me but I know people have their say on that. Not to mention, if I was a long time dev at Zipper who worked there sinc...
I can understand them reporting updates on the current situation on PSN or whatever, but topics like these only provide yet *another* online rage/venting outlet, as well as extra hits for their sites. I wouldn't even classify this article as "reporting news". This article is nothing more than a way to instigate what's going on right now.
I just expected better from those two sites.
The only PS3 game I can think of off the top of my head that is multiplayer online only is MAG. And the population count on that game is 4,000-6,000ish. Everything else has both a single player and multiplayer, (that is usually LAN/split screen as well), component in them.
The only people crying and whining about this are people like you who would slip a game like Dead Space 2, Uncharted 3 or even Grand Theft Auto IV and go STRAIGHT online only with it.
So pathetic that IGN and now Kotaku are doing this for hits. How low has this generation of people fallen?
I understand your point but there are A LOT people who get a PS3 due to the exclusive games, like me. So when you can't play them online, it's not like you can just load MAG or White Knight Chronicles on the Xbox 360, PC, Wii or whatever other system you can think of.
I really don't know what makes me laugh more. The reactions from people over something like this or the silly articles like this one that pop up on the internet.
I personally don't see how this would be that much of a good thing for Microsoft. It's not like I can just pop my SOCOM 4 disc into the Xbox 360 and start playing online or something. Nor do I think people would really go out and pay $60 for a 360 version of a game, let alone $300+ for a 360 console over something like this that happens rarely.
I can see this being big for Microsoft if like Gears 3 and Uncharted 3 came out on the same day and PSN was down I guess......
People aren't saying it doesn't suck, it's just that THERE ARE other things to do in the meantime. People are overreacting as if this is the clock thing that happened last year or whatever, where you couldn't play games PERIOD online or offline. At least you can still play your games, yes not online for right now, but at least still play them.
I'll say though, what surprises me more is how people truly do have a lack of single player games. It's dep...
True...
I would say the reason why people are so pissed about this though is because they look at the PS3 as a perfect system, mainly the people who once had a 360 then switched to PS3 due to technical problems. They're used to having something that works all the time without failure and that's what people have come to expect from the PS3. So when something like this happens, they rage and riot the internet.
This downtime on PSN is actually a good t...
I don't know... Even if Wii 2 is coming, I still don't think I'll get it unless they make core games on it that are new IPs or something. Majority, if not all, of the Wii's stuff is catered to the casual "mass". But we'll see what happens...
The only people who will feel like that are the CoD/online shooter guys whose only game they have on their system is CoD or some other online shooter.
Yeah, I just beat it on Elite just now. If people were to see the way I did it, it would be VERY pussy like, lol.
Pretty much though, key to beating it is smoke grenades, (for reviving or to cover movement), flash grenades, (for obvious reasons) and double target enemies, (takes a little to get used to but if you double target an enemy, your teammates AI level sky rockets and they become worth more than meat shields.
Your teammates can kill an enemy and ta...
Lmao, more like your teammates are a pain in the ass. Since PSN is down, I'm working on Elite right now and half way through. I don't know about you guys, but fucking Chung is ALWAYS the first to die. And for some reason, the AI has a satellite in space marking the players every movement and transferring that information by the speed of light back to the enemies super computer brains. Not to mention, the enemies have laser pinpoint accuracy from a mile away. There are others stuf...
Well I've been playing SOCOM since the first one and I love the game, (SOCOM 4). Yes it's not COMPLETELY the old SOCOM and blah, blah, blah. But overall it's still a good game.
My only complaint about the offline is how they took out pretty much the old command system from previous SOCOM games like "Breach and Clear" and what not. Though I will say, the new command system pretty much evens out my complaint.
Long story short, SOCOM has...
Why didn't they just add the actual interview instead of this 15 year old kid talking over it?

I still think it's fucked up how they're making Abandon a pre-order exclusive bonus for Gamestop. That map should just be in the game period or be a pre-order bonus for everyone. But soon people will see that it's all about Amazon now.
Looking really good. I wanna see more on the horde mode to be honest though and what they have for the story.
Multiplayer wise, after watching a view videos of the game's beta, I'm starting to feel it's Gears 2 with better graphics and what not, but maybe that will change when I play it for myself?
Agreed. Through out the entire video review I was thinking to myself how polish the game is at it's core. Despite the game not having a co-op story option, at least Zipper still put in a co-op mode in the game, which is enough for me. And going off of Zipper's support with patches/updates with MAG, SOCOM 4 will be well taken care of.
I liked the beta and tested it after the beta patch and the game is as you said, "solid". Only problem now is I'm deb...
@Smokey
Well most people pop out of cover to shoot but there were the smart ones who would use the lean instead of just straight up pop out. I thought the game is good, yes it's not SOCOM but Zipper said almost a million times that isn't not going to be SOCOM 2. I myself am getting sick of people saying, "it's not SOCOM, it's not SOCOM" when the devs said it wasn't going to be SOCOM 2 on day one of the game being announced.
But...
Wasn't the title of the game not in the article title a min ago?
