Wow thats just well one stupid as hell rebuttal. For one the CD playback is just a byproduct of being able to play a DVD, and one that very few people take advantage of.
Second if you only wanted CD playback them you would probably buy a CD player, not a DVD player.
Third, CD playback does not add on 200$ to a DVD player.

I'll be honest I didn't read your whole post, I just wanted to comment on one thing. The stupid AAA is throw around so often that it annoys the crap out of me and even more so because no one really knows what it means. But I don't think its sales alone. Take Okami for instance, great game, so very low sales. So thats my only point. :)

Its always irked me that BR uses Java. Not that Java isn't nice and all but for a movie its just overkill. Its like using a crane to take down your mailbox.
Because its cheaper. You can yell and scream all day long that it will one day be just as inexpensive as DVD's are. But that day is not today and until that day arrives I will not pay extra money for a bit more space.
