Ya that ain't gonna happen, bc with ps4 at best.
I personally might skip next gen and just build a new rig. Neither next gen console has really impressed me and I'm not a fan of most sony exclusives.
What are you talking about?
The ps4 doesn't have backwards compatibility of any kind, the ps5 is what will have BC.
Why would they bother when they just put $250 mil into UE5 ?
This is exactly why we have microtransactions today .
If you expect to pay for games at the same price point as 15 or 20 years ago , then expect MT's to always be apart of the gaming experience.
You wouldn't expect to pay developers the same wage from 20 years ago would you?
All overhead cost have increased... the value of $60 today gets you much less then it did when $60 became the standard.
Joe
2007 was last gen
Not even close?
Most of ND's developers left , there are only very few originals still working there.
Time will tell but I believe ND is on a downward spiral.
I got pretty good at taking the ps2 apart to clean the optical drive so I could play socom 2.
I also had about 4 ps3's that the disc drive shit the bed in all of them , and one was a slim.
I've had good luck with my ps4 , I'm still on my OGps4... knock on wood
What difference does dlc make in this argument?
You don't think these are valid reasons? The gaming industry is the only industry that has not adjust to inflation.
$70 games doesn't even cover the rate of inflation from 20 year prices.
We've been paying $60usd on games for at least 20 years . If game prices increased with inflation they would be $90 games.
When you factor in inflation the value of games today would be worth $40 20 years ago , then you can see why they want a price hike.
Development costs are much higher now , so now we have this MT monster to counteract inflation and good luck getting rid o...
Exactly, so this ssd may be faster but still will not be able to be utilized by developers the way sony 1st party dev's can.
Besides that you would need to have this ssd as a minimum spec on pc to begin with and many pc gamers still use hdd.
So this ssd is fast but irrelevant for any other advantages.
Tim Sweeney didn't invest in Sony and unless Sony uses UE5 (or any other engine) with first party exclusives the SSD isn't going to make that much difference.
Developers need to build their games around the ssd to take full advantage of it, 3rd party dev's won't be able to do that.
It's only a 1.4% investment, that's a tiny sliver of the pie.
$250mil may seem huge to the average person but these are multibillion dollar companies.
This doesn't give Sony any decision making power over UE5 and it's not going to stop MS or anyone else from using this engine.
Then you understand that $60 20 years ago is only worth about $45 today.
The cost of development has risen, wages have increased, the cost to just keep the lights on has increased.
These are the underlying cost , gamers want more but are not willing to pay the developers what they are actually worth.
Supply and demand is fundamental with everything, what difference does that make when you expect to pay prices from 20 years ago?
Sur...
Humanity... no , this is the marxist left.
Everything going on in the world today is a result of the ass backwards left trying to change the world as we know it.
If they ever get what they wish for it wouldn't be long before they regret it.
Obviously we want new games but I also want my entire digital library going forward!
What a load of BS... a person can dislike the game without being anti- whatever.

I am onto something, I'm talking to children who don't understand economics and who are rather entitled.
You want cheap games and cheap consoles, and now you get to deal with MT'S.
The average AAA game has been at $60usd for 15 or 20 years .
I'm not in favor of a price hike , but at some point you guy's need to realize there's this thing called inflation. $60 20 years ago isn't worth $60 today , and then there is the increased cost of development.
There isn't a single product that you can buy today selling at 20 year old price points other then video games.
It's just life ... deal with it.
If you're going to go the simulation route, then you might as well go do IRacing in my opinion.
