If sony really plans on pushing for a digital agenda then it only makes more sense to cut the price by $100.
I'm betting that's exactly what they do, so they push people who otherwise wouldn't go all digital into buying the digital version.
I definitely want to see psvr2 and new motion controller's to go with it , and obviously VR games.

You can blame xsx all you want but the fact is even pc doesn't have this sony specific ssd. Infact many PC gamers still use a traditional hdd so I don't see how developers are to get around that until ssd's are a basic minimum requirement.
Sony's ssd is reminiscent of the cell processor, where it was a great piece of tech but not utilized because it wasn't an industry standard.
But it's doubtful that any dev team will bother
Let's get real here, most 3rd party dev's aren't going to look for solutions. They're just going to develop to the lowest common denominator.
The real benefits of the ps5 ssd are mostly going to cater to 1st party exclusives.
This is where PC gaming takes console's hands down. Generation after generation after generation PC gamers always have their complete library of games that they have had since day 1.
I thought next gen consoles were based off x86 architecture? Last gen consoles were so why should there even be this discussion?
If console makers don't have the foresight to make future generation consoles 100% BC then they are nothing more then anti consumer.
I doubt anyone thought the ps4 would even break 100mil this gen ,and all gen the ps4 tracked slightly better than the ps2 ever did.
I think the only thing stopping the ps4 from beating the ps2 is a global resection. People simply are not going to spend money if global economies do not rebound soon.

It sounds like he's preparing us for a reason why it's going to cost more to buy games.
Publishers have been telling us all gen that it's more expensive to make games and have used that as a reason for MT's. Don't expect game makers to eat more expense just so we gamers don't have to pay more , it would be naive to think otherwise.
We already pay $80 a game on the average AAA up here in Canada.
Sony actually said file sizes should be smaller because the ssd doesn't need to duplicate files and updates should also be smaller.

Most gamers aren't going to buy a digital only console if it's only $50 cheaper even if they only buy digital content. People still like options regardless.
If sony and MS want to push this digital only agenda then they're going to have to do better then $50 discount if people are going to buy into it.
