I am willing to bet that by 2020 we will be in the next gen, maybe even by 2019.
$500 investment for 2 or 3 years for a resolution bump is way to expensive when we already know that next gen consoles will be superior to these mid gen upgrades and cost about the same.
Maybe if there were some exclusive games that you couldn't play anywhere else you might have a reason to buy.

I truly think " timed" exclusive games and Dlc are one of the shitiest practices ever to hit the gaming community. But MS was the worst offender last gen and now Sony is just doing back this gen.
The 4k revolution is bullshit anyway. With all this new power dev's should be focusing on putting that power on making better games better graphics and game play, AI, shit like that.
Imagine the games they could make if they could just get away from this 4k resolution "revolution" , it's completely misguided and a waist if their resources.

I was personally quite interested in Detroit. I will make no judgment until I see some more game play previews but I thought it was a good for what they showed.
Sure they are not the same, there is about the same technical differences between the ps4 and Xbox one as there are between the pro and x1x.

Like Moldy said (and I can't believe I am agreeing with him) you can upgrade your pc whenever you want or whenever it's needed.
Most of the time it is really unnecessary to and even if you keep your pc upgrade a gen or 2 behind, your still going to have a top of the line pc.
And I should add you don't have to upgrade all the components either, you can upgrade 1 at a time if you choose.
