The tide is definitely still in Microsoft's favor. They're software will make use of the hardware unlike Sony which has struggled to actually use hardware correctly. Also, most cross gen titles are being developed and optimized for the XBOX ONE. Sound familiar? If not, then research what happened with the current generation.

It's a risk.. The past several Call of Duty games have been absolute perfection. Their sales confirm that. Innovation is good but I'd be more interested in introducing a cover system more than anything. That will benefit the core product more than a new companion. Will it really affect Ghosts being game of the year? No, that battle will come down to Ghosts vs GTA V, and the addition of a companion won't affect that much at all.

Considering the XBOX ONE will be faster performing, offer true HD, offer a true gaming controller, the best online interface available, better exclusives and now a compromise for DRM.. I'd say no, the playing field is not level. The XBOX ONE just took an even bigger lead.
