Alan Wake is basically a modern day shooter with a "spooky" storyline (ooohhh!), current-gen gameplay with current-gen graphics. Heavy Rain has a non-linear storyline (next-gen) and an intuitive controlling method (next-gen) with the most impressive graphics yet, even better than Killzone (next-gen).

This game is not "AAA" by Xbox fanboy standards, it's a good game but it fails in a few things. Either Molyneaux was too ambitious, he didn't have enough time, or the hardware (namely the lack of a next-gen optical format and HDD) gimped its potential.
