The big thing they're missing is the replay value of a co-op shooter with a great weapons custimization system that requires multiple play throughs to finish. Why would you want a co-op shooter to be more than 5-6 hours long? Your friend isn't going to want to stay over for an 80 hour epic. People have lives to live. Critics don't seem to understand this.
So yeah, maybe they should consider playing through the game AGAIN before calling it too short. Agreed.
This would be a big move for MS, trying to be the console of choice for GTAIV and all, but there's too much software coming for Sony in the second half of this year for them to win with price cut.
I own this game and love this game for the co-op. The single player is fine and your partner AI isn't THAT stupid, just indecisive when you're down and injured. When it comes to online, it's smart to just stick to private matches instead of public. Too much at stake when it's just a two man team with someone you don't know and a 30 second respawn with overpowered AI running about, significant lag and objective based gameplay. It's just funner with people you know where as it's frustrating wit...
Microsoft has a few exclusive RPGs coming from third-party devs that will more than likely end up just like Trusty Bell (Eternal Sonata) and end up getting ported to PS3 to make up for a lack of sales. The XBOX just doesn't sell in Japan, they lose there more based on the manufactuer's own reputation rather than the product's. What Sony needs to do (for Japanese players and for me) is get some freaking exclusive RPGs out there other than Folklore. I think it's time for them to roll out White ...
I have dude and I have played and beat em' all on the PS3. Love Uncharted, love Ratchet and Clank, but those are more support titles and not really the system sellers as say a Mario Galaxy, Super Smash Brothers, Halo 3 or Gears of War. And don't forget the "killer-app" definition. Yes, COD4 and The Orange Box are amazing, but multiplatform. They don't really sell systems.
True Killer-apps coming soon include GT5, MGS4, FFXIII, GOW3, Resistance 2 (now that it has a rep...
Not a huge fighter gamer, but this and Soul Calibur (for Vader) are catching my eye. Hope it turns out well, wasn't a big fan of Virtua Fighter 5, my first next-gen fighting experience.
Far Cry 2, Battlefield or Haze? Tough choices coming up soon.
They'd have to give the game for free to get me interested in it again after so many unjustified delays.
It will be fun to watch this format fail. I'd say it would be a fall from grace, but I doubt this is ever going to see the light of grace. More like, a further fall than failure - bankruptcy.
The first Motorstorm was killed by a lack of content/value. This one might just have it with the new racing types and location. But it needs splitscreen multiplayer badly. I think it's reported that it will have it and if so, this thing's going to freaking rock!
Is Uwe directing this? If so, count me out despite hot chick.
All this talk about the MS price cut and yet these "analysts" can't even put two and two together and realize that at the current price, despite PS3 STILL not having a killer-app, Sony was beating MS straight up EVERYWHERE.
They don't talk the BS that MS is saying about "supply issues." When you have those, you don't CUT the price. Again, basic Economics 101. If the demand is really that high, price stays the same. Period. They have plenty of 360s out there...
I don't care which system is selling more software right now. All I care about is how well Army of Two is doing. GOOD! EA made an awesome game that deserves more than what bunk Edge Magazine gave it credit for. All other media sources are averaging out around an 8/10 which is what the game deserves. Right now, there's no better way to kill an afternoon with a friend that Army of Two. Wicked awesome co-op game!
Glad I'll be picking up the PS3 version. Box art looks very cool and I'd rather play as Vader anyways.
p.s. Does anyone else think this is very corporate, transforming Soul Caliber into a Star Wars promo item? Maybe it's just me.
Because there is no supply issue. Let MS talk, their actions don't support their words. If there was enough demand to have supply run low, the price would stay the same. Basic Economics 101. If demand is low, than the price must come down. They don't have a supply issue, they're getting beat straight up. I'm guessing that their strategy is to cut the price and ship out mass quantities of 360s to try and take advantage of the moment and prove their "supply issue" excuse correct.
Haha, oh yeah, basic supply and demand theory right? Microsoft look like real idiots right now.
If they just started releasing these games that supposedly are to make 2008 the year of the PS3 as we have all hyped it to be. Seriously, PS3 fan here, but man where is killer-app software man? My most anticpated game prior to freaking april was a multi-plat from EA! That Sony, is just sad if this is supposed to be your year...
p.s. I can't wait for MGS4
Release it when you're ready Square and deliver me some masterpieces the same time as the Japanese.
Best reviews are EGM. Three scores average representing different gaming tasts. THAT is what a review is all about! Electronic Gaming Monthly FTW!
Any Sony game gets underscored by this site, so yeah, it probably would have scored higher cause they're pretty biased towards the 360. See Ratchet and Clank, Resistance and God of War: Chains of Olympus for some pretty obvious examples. You could probably throw Uncharted in there also, getting an 8.0 when the metascore is 9.0.
