You are slightly confused...

First party games on PS4 will have NO RESTRICTIONS. This means NO DRM. Therefore PS4 exclusives such as Drive club, Killzone SF, Infamous etc will have NO DRM, so NO online passes etc.
Third party games have the choice. They can use online passes, they can do whatever they like.

In short, it is the same as the PS3. Jack Tretton confirmed this, watch the interview: 4629d ago 1 agree0 disagreeView comment

Exactly what I thought, however what Casual gamer will buy a console at launch for £429.99/$499?

Microsoft wont even get the bloody casuals let alone the hardcore gamers.

On-topic: They've really shot themselves in the foot. I will say Ryse: Son of Rome and Dead Rising 3 looked really good during their conference. However they weren't shown on the Xbox One itself so more questions I guess :l

Thrust,

I'm not biased...

If disliking the restriction of used games, having to be online all the time, having a camera always on, paying £80 more is biased, then I don't know what to say to you.

There was a point a few months ago I considered ordering the X1 however after the PS4 conference in Feb I put a deposit down for the PS4. After E3 I cancelled the order @Game and I ordered the PS4 from Amazon.

MS confirmed November at their conference.

I have already pre-ordered the PS4 so the sooner the better for me :D

To make it simple;

First party games = No DRM.. NO restrictions.
3rd Party games = Do whatever they like (same as this gen).

'Just like the PS3'

Because of the restrictions, because of the stupid things MS are implementing, $499/£429.99 is not justifiable when Sony are charging $399/£349.99 for a console that is a mile ahead of the X1.

If MS had a beast console, no stupid restrictions, $499/£429.99 would not be a bad price.

I have Virgin Media... TV/Movies is sorted.
There are 3 laptops, one computer and a Tablet in the house... Web browsing sorted.
Heck, I even have LoveFilm for watching movies through PS3/Tablet/Laptops/Computer!!!

Why do I need to pay £429.99 for something I already have?

I'm getting a PS4 for Gaming.

PS: I save £80 for getting PS4 instead of X1, I can get a plane ticket for that price.

Casual gamers will not pay £429.99 or $499.99, that's just the truth. Why did Nintendo Wii sell like crazy? Because it was cheap...

If MS is targeting Casual gamer's they need to lower the price to under £200 which won't happen. They're losing the Hardcore gamers because of the restrictions.

What on Earth are they doing?

PS+ is already great, imagine what's in store for us next Gen!!!!

I've never been a fan of paying to play online, however being able to play used games, no DRM (first party games), no need to be connected to the internet all the time etc... I can live with £40 a year for PS+. Sony will return the £40 in the form of games, DLCs, themes, and so on.

I 100% agree with you Abriael, choice is what matters. If you don't give consumers choice, ...

I really like the design apart from the bizarre slant they've included. I don't hate it, just bizarre nature of it that's unusual. Hopefully when I see it in real life face to face (console?) I'll grow to like it.

I've already pre-ordered PS4 :D

Tretton confirmed First party studios will have NO RESTRICTIONS whatsoever...

So as far as PS4 exclusives, there will be no online passes.

Yep, the good thing is Jack Tretton confirmed first party will have no restrictions at all which is great.

Xbox One could come back by allowing used games, ability to disconnect Kinect, no need to be constantly online, reducing console price, include free games on Live, reduce live price... I'm sure I've missed out more.

Realistically; non of the above will happen.

I've already preordered the PS4.

That is what I thought, 'PS+ Edition' to me made me think it simply had exclusive content, though one would still need to pay a price (most likely £49.99).

Oh well, I'm still getting PS+.

You'd be a Xbox One for not getting a PS4.

'Shuhei Yoshida, President of Sony’s Worldwide Studios announced that they have 30 PlayStation 4 games under development of which 12 are brand new IPs' - -Mika-, you don't want to troll like that again.

You get tons of free games, some I had when I was a Plus member was Burnout Paradise, Just Cause 2, few more I can't remember. Practically everything is cheaper as well. Free premium themes that usually cost a few pounds/dollars.

PS+ is worth it, most definitely.
