Well ever since PS3 launched no. PS1 and PS2 had problems but not PS3 or PS4.
MS dropped the price for xbox and now Xbone. The x360 was a trainwreck so yeah MS's track record is very poor regarding being an early adopter.

First they dropped the backwards compatibility and card readers from the PS3 so it wasn't the same package people recieved after that.
Second it took way more than 3 months before the first pricedrop occured.
People are pissed that their purchase devalued so much in such a small time window. Usually the manufacturers realize this and offer something to make up. Not always though.

I'm a Sony/PS-guy but I will not rejoice the demise of Xbox untill I see it happening. If anything I'm inclined to think that there was a conspiracy against Nokia that lead things the way they went.

I guess you forgot about Sony removing stuff and remodelling the PS3 several times to get to the pricepoint they are now with PS3. How convenient.
Standalone BD-players cost around 1000usd by the time PS3 launched. There is nothing you can say to change the fact that regardless of the format war BD-drive+CELL were both bleeding edge tech back then. Additionally there are way too many examples of games where BD helped with it's space for you to down...

It's funny how I predicted this to happen YEARS ago back in 2007 or so when everyone and their uncle wanted PS3 dead. I KNEW PS3 will have way longer legs that it's competition. It has always been a marathon not a sprint. Thinking about all the hate PS3 got for years and now seeing how things panned out gives me a good chuckle. ...
