Honestly, there is no defending Square Enix, there is a serious disconnect between what their fans/consumers want and what they put into the market.

I think Treyarch are headed in the right direction, regardless of how the game will turn out, they are intentionally trying to move away from the generic COD experience and give gamers something new. Pressure from Activision is an obstacle, naturally innovation can be a risk if they divert too far from the successful (but getting old fast) COD formula. Time will tell.
When asked for comment about their decision to leave Irrational they said, "It was the rational thing to do." lololololol....I'll see myself out.
Early announcements are always bad for a game, expectations become ridiculous, some textbook examples include Final Fantasy XIII, Gran Turismo 5 and even the recent Diablo 3; none of these games are bad, they are in fact great games but there is a general consensus they aren't aligned with the expectations that developed over a 6 or 8 year wait. Have my fingers crossed for FFVersusXIII as well.
Smash Bros is a successful formula, All-Stars is admitting to borrowing from it and adding a completely new array of characters, fighting styles and powers which in turn creates a new experience. I don't see what Smash bros enthusiasts are complaining about.
What facts? You had one source saying the game has a 100 mil marketing campaign; you think channeling that money towards the game itself will improve the quality or create innovation, that isn't always the case, in fact the law of diminishing returns would in this case work against it especially considering time constraints (COD is an annual product). Black Ops 2 is a new game, its doing some new stuff and until it doesn't come out or at the least a full reveal of its multiplayer has been released, you lads should stop making yourself look like fools.
You do realize MGS isn't a first person shooter let alone a shooter. That said every COD game has been critically acclaimed and has an aggregate score of 80+, thus, holding the opinion the the last five CODs are personally the best fps isn't without substance (although it can be considered a bit shallow).

its not about epic focusing on the gameplay rather than the story thus the poor writing. I'm started playing Gears 3 last month and just couldn't keep going because the plot was so stupid and boring that I did't really care to continue. Especially when I had just gotten Deus Ex along with Gears. Games have become more than just gameplay, they are an interactive medium that transcend films and should accordingly have plots that match movies today.
this is becoming a ridiculous trend, i dont know how even as a business decision publishers and companies see it as lucrative because it taints their reputation in the long run.

By the looks of these comments, gamers feel differently...rightfully so, there are many games that have touched us emotionally and gone beyond. Even more so than movies in a way because we experienced these games through the eyes of characters, how they interacted with that particular world, in some cases we made choices in others we experienced a story that if compared to a movie script, can stand with the best of em.
vgchartz have always been estimates before the sales data than corrected following the release of actual data. should you choose to take them as accurate is up to you. nevertheless, for 2011 its true Nintendo when DS, 3DS and Wii combined outsold Sony's PS3 and PSP but the Wii failed to outsell the PS3 (14 million for the ps3 vs 11.7 million for the Wii). nope, sony has been outselling nintendo in the hardware department for a while now. Last week global sales:

never thought i'd see the day where someone called me a hipster lol, nevertheless, i've seen trends where a strong marketed or commercial game may deteriorate in terms of quality. Also seen in the movie industry where the product becomes more hollow but has a 200 million dollar marketing campaign i.e transformers, tron, prince of persia etc. COD is the most successful commercial game in history yet it has fallen a bit in the eyes of gamers. That was my point, nothing more.
People are selling factory sealed copies on Kijiji and craiglist, so its no surprise.
