The real thing to consider is only Microsoft would benefit from dumping a console. Because of there hand in the operating system. How will Sony make money if they dont release a console? What will the game play on a PC? A TV?

Your dead on Kalkano thats why all the other companies took squares share of the market. The Jrpg market in Japan is now above the 33% mark from 10 years ago. Now it is closer to 50%. And Square had a net lose of market share. Trying to make action adventure and action rpg's instead of turn based fantasy JRPG's.
When was the last time time Square sent a turn based JRPG with console style summon spells? Answer FF IX over a decade ago.

@GUTZnPAPERCUTZ I'm a software developer. As one many people bring me their hardware problems because they dont know the difference. For a hobby I fix pc's a lot. I can't believe you have not seen smoke like this before. Makes me doubt your claims, or your objectivity. yeah I have a buddy that loves fishing games so when I saw #12 on IOS I looked it up. It looks like boboo! The graphics look like ATARI! Seriously. It better have game play more addictive then 4elements, Mario, pac man etc to be in the top 20 of all platforms because the graphics look like crap.
I agree with your point about Ni no Kuni and Lost Odyssey. Spot on. I think the reason that no one makes the JRPG is because at the start of ps3/360 gen Microsoft conveniced Sony that people will only start buying JRPG's I know it sounds not possible but consider this.
