Sony has had a far worst period. They are basically a non factor in consumer electronics outside of gaming, an industry they one completely dominated. Their stock has been put on the shame index.
DX12 will be great for pc and Xbox one. X1 games aren't even properly using the multiple cores on games. The PS4 api is however. So better performance, not necessarily better graphics.
They have like 6 new game studios. What are you talking about? They launched in Japan because they felt the need try again, not because they thought they'd actually win. Microsoft is a multi - billion dollar corporation, so I'm sure they tabulated the odds of success. Speaking of success, their definition may not be just sell X number of consoles. Maybe success is just doing better than the 360 or courting a few developers who might actually be interested in something not Sony or Nint...
Not even sure why PS4 is running away with this gen. The X1 games keep looking better and better, multiplats seem to be edging closer to visual parity, the updates keep getting pumped out, the exclusives lineup is bright. This seems more of a case of mindshare and the botched reveal.

Its amazing to hear people admit Sony has a weak Holiday lineup but will still sell regardless. It just proves the PS4 continues to sell more on the strength of its hardware than its software.
