I think it article basically said that 3DS was ahead of anything both Sony and Microsoft have...(I'll hold my judgment til I actually see the 3DS in person).
Your right...Apple or Nintendo would let you buy a new product and then release a slightly updated version of the same product 3 months later and make you buy that.
I guess that is what you mean by they are more aware of user experience and usability...they users are saps and buy up whatever the company tells them.
I've always hated played COD MW and MW2 and getting killed while I was trying to complete objectives.
Now I'll get points and rewards for completing objectives rather than just killing.
Good job DICE.
On the Star Wars kinect article from earlier. Basically I think that the Star Wars game looked weak and one thing they could do to easily improve it is to provide a 'lightsaber controller' that provides haptic feedback (for whenever you reflect a shot or attack a stormtrooper etc...).
Basically, I think that is the biggest problem I will have with Kinect, is the lack of any feedback other than audio and visual (and yes, I had the same problem with playstation eye). ...
Is there is no feedback to the user other than visual.
It would be nice if they gave you a lightsaber to carry while playing the game that gave haptic feedback so that you actually feel like you are part of the game. Of course that goes away from the heart of the no controller aspect of konnect.
Standing around flailing around my arms pretending I have a lightsaber just doesn't seem too fun.
I just dropped 1500 for my HDTV a year ago and now they want me to fork over more money to buy a 3D compatible one?
Screw that.
I won't get into 3D gaming until a couple years when my TV becomes obsolete and 3D TVs go way down in price.
I'm willing to fork over money for new top of the line smaller tech, but asking people to fork out another 2000+ buck when a lot of are just getting used to HDTV's, no thanks.
But the only songs I actually remember from games are:
Mario, Zelda, Metal Gear Solid and "One Winged Angel" and the fight/victory songs from FF7.
Only the FF7 songs didn't make this list.
Then I quit after pure frustration at the cheapness that is COD: WaW Veteran difficulty.
Grenades fall like confetti and you get shot from everywhere by freaking dead eyes while minimal cover.
1. Ability to save more than one game onto the same cartridge. I find it pretty ridiculous that I can only play one game at a time.
2. Please get rid pokemon evolving through trading. I'm old enough that I'm pretty embarrassed that I play pokemon, and I don't know other people that play so if I get a pokemon that I like that evolves to the final form through trading, I'm pretty much screwed.
But I didn't get the part about the PS3 when they said 'she doesn't like to do different things' and 'you have to buy accessories to make it work' (but yes, the expensive part was spot on).
For the PS3 I would have definitely gone with the expensive thing and maybe touched on saying something along the lines of "you're friends seem to prefer the 'xbox 360 girl' more" referring to how most developers go xbox 360 as the lead platfor...
Where were the sectacoids and floaters?
I just hope the god they don't have Chrysalis dudes in this game, those guys were a pain in my arse.
X-Com UFO Defense for those of us that have played it, is simply one of the greatest games ever made. It was light years ahead of it's time with the depth it presented.
And, now they are turning the turn based squad strategy game into a first person shooter game. Hopefully they pull it off, and this game rocks, because X-Com deserves the best.
P.S. When I saw the screen saying, "And if all else fails", I immediately thought, go for blaster ...
I'm loving the idea of neutral battlefields.
Now people won't be able to complain about unbalanced maps (be it true or not).
I haven't played in a while (recently got into Battlefield), but I'll jump back in with the DLC.
This game is already looking to be freaking awesome, and if they can get the NCAA teams, that's the icing on the cake.
Yeah, I know what you are talking about, I think they were essentially the same mission, only instead of igniting lights you were putting out surveillance cameras. Or maybe I'm crazy and it was just destroying surveillance cameras (I haven't played for a while), but yeah, those missions were the worst.
...the stupid side missions where you climb around a building and light up the lights. Seriously, I hated those missions with such passion. Walking around the same freaking building 15 times climbing up and down the walls looking for one light that is out is not fun, despite what some people may thing.
But I loved Star Wars: Masters of Teras Kasi.
My friends and I killed a lot of time playing that game and always had a lot of fun doing it. The only real flaw was that some characters had game breaking moves (Jade's force power when the opponent was lying on the ground comes to mind), but we just agreed not to use them.
Regardless, I'm fairly certain this game doesn't belong with the rest of that list, or maybe I am crazy.
I'd say any 'open world sandbox' game.
I just can't get into them, I guess I kinda hate them. I feel like it's just repeating the same 5-10 missions over and over again in a new location where the enemies have different skins.
Agree...in all seriousness I don't care what the freaking character looks like in your game as long as he/she is interesting and has a point. I don't need the stereotypical muscle bound freak who grunts at everything and I also don't need to the emo guy with a spiky comb over who wines about his feelings all the time.
I just want a character with an interesting backstory that makes me want to play the game.
Also, Millah, sick avatar.
That many people recently bought their HDTV (even if it was 3-5 years ago, it is considered recent since a TV is a long time investment).
Since a lot of people just recently upgraded to HDTV's they are less likely to fork out another couple thousand dollars for new tech 3D capable HDTV because they are first gen and much more expensive than a run of the mill HDTV. This is not to mention that the 3D glasses required to watch 3D TVs aren't cheap.
I...
