Oh dear, this has all got a little lively, perhaps I should shelve the impending 'Underrated' list?
Having been there myself I can say if only it were quite that simple.
I'm surprised Mass Effect's inclusion hasn't generated more comments. Before I played it i only seemed to meet people who liked it. Since playing it, I only meet people who hated it.
I think you can say that for pretty much all list features. The internet is driven by them, and they're subjective, that's part of the fun. Frankly, it's refreshing to see one where they set out the criteria for inclusion!
Its strange that so many of the games I love the most are on this list-Resident Evil 1 & 2, Metal Gear Solid, Wipeout, GTA-yet I can't really muster any interest in a PS3. Nevertheless, its hard to ignore the massive contribution the Playstations have made in turning gaming from an electronic kids toy into an immersive, all ages hobby.
Oh, and of course, the bomb in CoD:MW,
Finding the last bit of gold in Gun,buying myself a farm in Fable II...getting a colleague killed during a panicked headlong dash in Fallout 3 and realising that this world was weighted consequences that occurred organically rather than at binary moments.
Hmmm...I loved Half Life 2, but have no recollection of that train at all. I wonder if it got lost amidst the mashed together menus of The Orange Box?
Yeah, the headline, but don't mind me...'buildin g' and 'minogames'? I can't spell either!
Hah hah, Brutal Legend's opening is amusing, but buildin g an actual minogame into the menu? Thats adding value. Can't wait to get Black Ops now. By the way, one 'e' too many. (Oh, the sick, sick jokes I'm resisiting.)
I want it to be FO:NV, but its going to be Black Ops, no doubt.
Oh and that video, hells teeth, what a depressing sight.
Heh heh, all of Jack Thomson's in one place, nice.
Heh heh, Brithers in Arms reckons the D-Day landing could have been stopped if only the German's had closed more three-bar gates.
Hah hah, just had my first ever go of Tomb Raider...
Ha ha. Sadly, to be this grumpy you actually have to be a journalist.
Hah hah, love the skit from Family Guy, nice collection, ta.
Hmmm...I have to follow the story in a game rather than skipping cutscenes or whatever, but rarely have I come across a game where I felt the story necessarily needed to be played in-order through the sequels.
The nuke one reminded me of the satellite bombing you call down in Fallout 3. I'm really itching for some more GTA action, I might have to go get a second hand copy of San Andreas.
Hah hah, nice list. Is it just me who finds the clown voices emanating from the Circus of Value machines in Bioshock really creepy?
I think my cat started sharpening her claws at first sight of the inflatable Mario Kart!
