Funnily, it's exactly the sort of frustration that I normally loathe in games, yet in Dark Souls it's very rewarding. You just have to approach it with an old fashioned, die and learn mentality rather than a modern tell-me-a-story mindset.

Yeah, Resi lost the fear factor after Nemesis, for me, although I still loved the series through zero, code veronica and Resi4, they were great games, just not scary. Then came Resi5. Phew, that stank.

Heh heh, I'm almost the exact opposite, I find modern games much easier than the old stuff-all that pattern recognition and careful timing always scuppered me. I much prefer easier, narrative oriented modern games.
Still, it's a pretty cool tribute to the game in question that people want to put all that time and good humour into giving them a retrograde tweak.
