Or, y'know, I could find a different series to obsessed with.

Yeah, Resi on the Wii/Gamecube feels like the high point of the series, while it's current PS3 and 360 outing is going downhill. Still, you never know, it might be salvageable.

Until the use of a chair was mentioned I imagined players squatting over an imaginary motorbike. Not a pretty picture.

"Where am I?"

Actually, that could be really entertaining over Xbox live-a player with Kinect is placed in peril that he needs to make specific movements to avoid, whilst his friends receive a feed over XBL that allows them to offer direction/instructions.

Oh, and you're right about almost everything, except for Chloe over Elena. Miles off on that one!

The idea of developing the relationship between partners never seems to mean writing a compelling and engaging back story, it always seems to mean creating a couple of irritating gameplay mechanics that leave you dependent on the partner's usually substandard AI. I look at statements like 'developing the relationship between Drake and Sully' and all I picture is Resi 5, and the desire to shoot Sheva in the face! Still, this is Uncharted, it may actually go for developing the relat...

That said, I'm itching to try Kinect boxing.

I'm waiting to see what sort of games we get. I just can't get into casual games and party games. The Wii has shown faint glimmerings that hardcore games and motion control can be compatible, I'm hoping Kinect will prove it. If it does, then I'll buy.

I can't quite believe I've become an achievement whore, but there you go, I'm hooked.

Brilliant, isn't it? I'm hoping to sink a couple of co-op hours into it later, maybe. ;)

I went into TR: Underworld with such low expectations due to its mediocre reviews and was surprised by just how much fun it was.

Very true, I remember Borderlands getting utterly middling reviews. I think GamesTM only gave it a 6! Given how much fun it is, they're crackers. Or, more likely, they had to review it before there were any online players to enjoy the co-op. Thing is, we had a rule that to be considered underrated, you had to have a Metacritic score of 80% or less, and Borderlands and Alan Wake both score more highly than that.

Although I have to admit, I nearly died of boredom and wept with frustration simultaneously during THAT bit....

When SWFU first came out there was a huge debate in my office as to where to score it. The reviewer wanted it to get 5/5, the most experienced reviewer in the office said it deserved 3/5 at best. Its a very divisive game. For me, it's one of those games where you're constantly rattling of its shortcomings at the back of your mind, but they never seem to stop it from being fun.

Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem is another survival horror standout, and full of innovative ideas.Looks tripe, mind you, even for the time, but who cares when it plays so well?

I can't wait to have a crack at Amnesia. Everyone I know has loved it, been scared of it, and failed to get the 'good' ending.

I still think you need to face your gaming fears-you need to have a crack at REmake.

Great article, I really enjoyed it.

I often think that modern survival horror has forgotten that the fear comes not from feeling like your enemies are too strong, but from feeling like you're weak and vulnerable.

For all that the Necromorphs in Dead Space were tougher and more dangerous than Isaac, he was still carrying half a dozen weapons and wearing armour. For all that you knew you were weaker than your opponents, you never felt helpless to defend y...

Still can't get excited about Kinect, I'm sure I'll change my mind when I actually use it, like with the Wii, but right now I can't imagine it improving any of the games I love.

Pinball seems to be the breakout success of this list, I'd love that too.
