Xbox has a nice set of features that PS3 doesn't for media. Media centre for one and party viewing across the net. Oh and just to make sure i will say this again, Last.fm, Facebook and twitter don't work in the PS3 browser they either don't have plug ins or the HTML and PHP breaks apart. The video is instant the HD quality arrives 15 seconds later during the copyright screen, but really kinda splitting hairs here. I doubt you could go buy a blu-ray and get it back home in 15 seconds to play it. Actually for that matter i believe you could get your disc from the shelf and place it in the tray in that time.
I have only 4Mb connection in the UK and can get instant 1080p after 10-15 seconds of the lower quality buffer time. The quality doesn't beat blu-ray but no one ever expected it to. the ability to get such high quality straight away over the net is actually unbelievable. we're starting to get somewhere with Natal now. The first real mainstream game, one i enjoy playing and one that should adapt really well to its use. Pub games, talking to the characters and questing should be pretty fun.
a pc speed boosting software retailer tells me windows 7 runs slow, next norton tell me its less secure. Im sure its true. BTW IMO Windows 7 is best OS M$ have ever produced (which ive used anyway )
i agree shouldnt cost to use them and i think it would be nice to have a browser. My point is only 1 of these popular and well used sites works with PS3 because the browser lacks plugins. Heavy browsing should be done on PC and i like the fact M$ are taking usefull services and making use of xbox features at the same time. Custom built apps for tv because the web isnt living room friendly
Facebooks html breaks apart and the php friends lists and forms dont work, Lastfm cant play music because PS3 browser lacks a plugin. SKY Player doesnt work for the same reason. Only twitter works on PS3 and non of them share friends lists nor have any party listening or viewing support. BTW im using PS3 right now so i should know
they said facebook picture viewing was much better than the pc alternative, plus it was really well integrated with your friends list. M$ have also said they r working on in game lastfm support for a later update and video uploading to facebook. Im personally looking forward to lastfm, twitter and the Zune instant streaming when it arrives. Its just convenient to have these services integrated with xbox sharing friends lists and using the party system for music.

Game designers arent stupid, christ theyre gamers like all of us. They know its not fun to dance around and pretend to be in cover. Im intrested to see what they do but the article makes out intergration will be minimal. I just wish people would calm down, no one is going to dance round the room for hardcore games and they know this.
I actually cant believe the headline that he has put up. Bungie are incredibly passionate about the halo franchise. Jesus visit bungie.net to just see their ongoing long term community support for their franchise, let alone listen to one of their podcasts or read their publications on Halo's technology. Halo is their baby and they "love working on it as much today as they ever have done" quoted from the mouths of the ODST team themselves not a few months ago.
i agree, i have been using Windows 7 beta for some time now and its a very stable, solid and actually well thought out OS. Its running faster than Vista and ive had less issues actually ive had no issues compared to vista.
Neither Natal or the Wands are very innovative, the fact both Sony fans and Microsoft fans like them is because they work better than the original outings of the technology. The wands are a much better Wiimote and Natal is a much better PSeye. Plus I think the major problem with the hardcore gamers reception of the Natal system and the wands is the fact neither company has yet to show how they can expand our experiences in hardcore games. I don't see why Sony couldn't just use the PSeye alone to browse the menu. It just needs to see contrast between me and my background. A simple movement of hands is nicer than having to look for the pesky controller for a little task such as that.
the idea of PSeye and Natal is the exact same but the technology is very different. PSeye was limited by its inability to sense depth in a scene. For example imagine a free kick football mini game. PSeye could sense the leg coming in for the strike as it can see contrast but it would not be able to sense the angle of the foot hitting the ball or the y axis speed of the leg as it came in to strike. bungie have just started the texture work and are still playing with all the lighting tech they are going to use... my reference? the bungie.net website, they were talking about this last week. One year to go and i bet we will see some nice improvements from this but if the new weapon designs are anything to go by i think its in safe hands.
