Why would anyone buy a Blu-ray 1.0 player? Even if it's a hybrid? What a waste of money...
The PS3 almost fits the 1.1 profile but does not fit the 2.0 profile. Speculation is that the PS3 will be able to do 1.1 with software emulation. The problem is that the 40GB PS3 won't do PS2 emulation so there most likely be issues with 1.1 on the 40GB version. I'm not giving a single nickel to Sony until I know for sure, and god forbid that Sony can't get it done. There will be a lot of upset people out there...
I see your logic, but you are not correct and let me point out why. Amazon's first deal buster is for a PS3, XBOX 360 and a Wii. The Wii which as you know is the cheapest is winning that battle.

I might, but it won't be until, lets see, Blu-ray 2 comes out. You know, the FINAL Version. Since I'm going to wait for 2.0 then the PS3 should support the FINAL Version as well before I dump a single .01 in it. Right now the PS3 without the 2.0 spec is an unfinished box. Who knows maybe at the time that PS3 is finished we will have a new version called the PS360. Only time will tell...

How is it that the Blu-ray camp keeps stating that Blu-ray is the "superior storage format"? It's not even finished. Last time I checked they were only up to version 1.1, which gives Blu-ray features that are already in HD. There are so many issues with Blu-ray that it should be called Anti-Consumer...
In Q1 you will all see what Sony truly thinks of you. The truth will become clear when Blu-ray 1.1 movies start to enter the market and no PS3 update. At that point you will reflect on the message that Sony is greedy and released a spec before it was ready.

Oct 31 has passed Sony came out with the So Supper Great Firmware 2.0 (not 1.98 as it should have been named) and NO BLU UPDATE. I hope for Sony's sake it comes out soon.
