Back in the day, late 70’s early 80’s game systems had few exclusives. They had marquee titles such as Mario, sonic, altered beast etc but most games were multiplat and you chose to play a game on your favorite system. Whichever had better graphics. Same games.
It’s about ecosystem now. Whoever has the best overall ecosystem.

All games should be available on all platforms IMO. However, since that's not possible I think SONY backed themselves in a corner with such a huge focus on exclusives. It creates a great core base for sure but it will never meet the financial expectations needed to grow a company to the heights where it can be in a position like MS. Say what you want but if SONY would have brought games like Spiderman, GOW, etc. to MS ,streaming, and other systems they would be in a much more enviable pos...

You all act like there's some rule book somewhere that says you have to have the exact same business strategies across companies. Sony makes great 1st party. No question. But that doesn't have to be MS strategy or strongpoint. On to of that, game quality is 100 percent subjective so to keep taking jabs and making it seems like MS fails in all regards just reinforces your cult-like perception.
