The only places it "slipped" in the PS3 generation would have been the U.S., and to a lesser degree, the U.K.
That being said, worldwide, It kicked the living heck out of the XB360. To launch a year late and still sell more worldwide is an amazing accomplishment and it shows that the PS3 sold many more year-over-year than the XB360.
This generation is starting off completely different and there is no way that the XB1 is going to ever compete wi...
Is TLOU overrated?
No.
The prices are too high for a 4-hour rental, but the 7-day rental prices seem ok to me. I would definitely consider a 7 day rental on a game for $5-8 if I thought that it was a single play experience that could be played through in 10-15 hours.
Also, I think that if Sony only offered a subscription or very cheap rentals on just Sony-owned IPs, first and and second-party games (From the PS1 through the PS3 eras) with a smattering of 3rd party games, it would be a worthwhile...
No offense, but Naughty Dog is in a league of their own. Not to take away from Remedy or Bethesda or Rockstar or Bioware, which all make or have the ability to make great games... but in terms of graphical fidelity coupled with cinematics, story telling, casting and developing the voice actors, and pushing the technology to its limits, Naughty Dog is far and away the best developer out there.
"Does Sony let publisher set a price on PS+ "FREE" games? NO, it is free damn it!"
Actually, it is not free for Sony... Sony pays the publishers for the privilege of offering those free games on PS+
PS4 is winning in the U.S.... "Crushing"? Not so sure. Seemingly insurmountable lead in the U.S.? Yep, pretty much.
Infamous? A disappointment? I know that it's your opinion, but that's just silly!
How to compare Destiny with The Last of Us?? You don't?
I don't necessarily agree, but the article is talking about a slim version of the XB1, not the "Xbox Two".
Additionally, your assumption that the release in those 26 countries is going to miraculously help the XB1 be competitive is without any basis in reality. These are countries that the 360 was not very competitive with the PS3 last gen. Why do you believe that somehow these countries will now embrace the XB1? There is a reason that MS chose not to launch X...
He is not literally talking about a "new" console -- an "Xbox Two" -- he is talking about the launch of a slimmed down version of the XB1 for less money. Usually slim versions of consoles don't come out for a few years after launch, but in this case, it might help the perception problem that MS is currently having. Hell, MS has lost the mindshare of the mainstream media in the U.S. with the XB1, which is not good for them.
It has to do with Pawn Shop laws. Nothing to do with Gamestop.
Yep... has to do with Pawn Shop laws.... Used to be with ink... at least now they have an electronic fingerprint reader at my local Gamestops!
One of my most anticipated games...
Question.... if the game is a "timed exclusive" to the PS4, then coming to PC, does that mean that PS4 has a CONSOLE exclusive and it will not be coming to XB1?
Has there been any word on an XB1 port? I think that if Sony tied this up as a PS4 console exclusive, they would be brilliant. This game will move consoles.
EDIT: Just answered my own question:

Once they have a subscription model in place, it will be more like having backward compatibility than in its current rental incarnation.
“Actually, I don’t know what the target is for sure. The tech guys are still hammering that, we’ll get details out before launch.”
They have to know what the "target" is and what they will likely hit... this is just a silly statement from the freaking game's creative director! The game is set to be released in November! How can they not know? Seriously?!
I agree about the prices.... there should not be a "4-hour" option... For $2.99 you should get a 24-hour rental, similar to Redbox pricing... Right now, the 7-day pricing seems the most cost-effective on most games. But, again, it is really expensive. I have been in the PS3 and PS4 betas for several months and I've seen the prices drop, but not enough.
correct... made an error.
Depends on the Terms. Don't know how good the service is yet. If EA is offering newer games, possibly. But, based upon the current TOS, not so sure how it will pan out. The way the system as it is currently going to be set up is:
Access to a "limited library of certain EA titles for unlimited ONLINE PLAY" (no single player included?)
for the "duration of their availability in the vault." (the title is only playable while available ...
This Generation's Catchphrases:
"Cinematic Gameplay"(as opposed to QTEs)
"All in One" (not so much anymore)
"Greatness Awaits" (hopefully not waiting much longer)
"Animalistic Movement" (Klohe Kardashian?)
It would be great to have more information about Project Morpheus, but honestly, what can you really show to an audience streaming the conference? VR doesn't translate well to stage demos... it is something that must be experienced first-hand.
