The author opinion fails IMO, Wii was the perfect price point because it was a essentially Gamecube with wifi and motion controls. Sure it sold a lot but the best gaming experiences are on the less successful consoles. The 2 best selling games this gen are a mini game collection and an exercise game, does the author want the gaming industry to go so far into the casual direction that everyone should have released el cheapo hardware.
Sure Wii sold tonnes to the casual marke...
I like videogame ads, what I don't like are deodorant, ect. ads - essentially any non-gaming ads is unwelcome but all gaming ads are.
I think Wii already won that in terms of sales, PS3 gamers already won in terms of games.

Dammit we have a right to steal and to enable stealing because it not from a store, it's over the internet!
There's also a right to bear arms, doesn't mean you can have a bin full of free loaded guns at the end of your driveway.

I think Sony and MS intentionally break consoles or are willfully ignorant to the possibility of certain models breaking every time they release a firmware update.
I swear the minute after I downloaded that update that allowed 360s to save to a USB stick my 360 RROD'd.
I had to buy a new DS3 because the analog rubber on the right stick ripped off (the same thing happened to my 360 controller last year so it's probably the way I play) and was amazed they were 55 bucks.
If I didn't already have GOW Collection it wouldn't have been so bad.
I disagree with Halo and Sports series, although I think yearly sports games should be 29.99 new.
Mine are Solid Snake, Masterchief and Kratos.
The probably due to Kinect, remember 500 mill advertising on Kinect sells the 360 as well.
It's impressive how MS has locked down the US.
Sony should release all of it best exclusive games in one year, save some for 2012. How stupid is it to release both if its FPS games (Killzone 3 and Resistance 3) in one year again. Sony really needs to plan out it release schedule better.
@ outlawlife:
I don't know about the US but in Canada you can't waive your constitutional rights and you especially can't contract out of them.
That better be fake or that guy is an idiot...unless he's part of a biker gang.
I wish Kinect had wands too, then you could create some really new and innovative core gaming experiences.
No it was just on Xbox 1.
I would love to see a preview of the new game!
I had a really cheap HDMI cable that just stopped working, I got a $100 HDMI for just over 7 bucks at Futureshop because my friend works there. He pays 10% more than what future shop pays if that's any indication of the markup on these things. The one advantage to the expensive ones is that it has a life-time warranty.
Again, why buy a 360 when you can get pretty much all of its best games on PS3 and still have even more great games (the majority of which are better than those on that list).
The systems cost the same, well PS3 is less if you factor in Live, regardless, why limit your great game selection.
@ Tinasumsum
Well it's obvious this gen that the larger you are in terms of sales is correlated with a lower amount of AAA games. People can get 95% of 360s best games on PS3 but substantially less of PS3s best games on 360.
You must really love you Wii more than anything, it sold way more that PS3 and 360.
MS essentially abandoned their core base after 5 years again (like with Xbox 1) by focusing primarily on new hardware to the detriment of the old one.
Sarah Pallin's a snob, she thinks the average working person is beneath her.
