Ah, yes. An era where developers didn't care too much about profit, japanese games of all kinds flourished, and some of the best platformers of gaming made their stride.
On the contrary, I think overall they have been the most pure in their focus compared to other competitors in the hardware space. Sony is focused too, but its not quite the same as in the 90's but they are still cool when it comes to games (outside of that dreaded PSN pass idea), and While I'm not into nintendo games the same way as I was in the 90's they still feel quite pure in execution and are not too far off from what I enjoyed all those years ago.
I don't give a crap if its lifelike, if the gameplay ain't fun I'm not playing it.
PCs being more ahead of consoles, which update every 5-6 years, is only natural.
This would actually be pretty cool. ^_^ I hope the original gets released as well to commemorate it.

The hedgehog is just getting started. Don't count Sonic out just yet. There are few gaming icons that have as much resiliance as Sonic when it comes to finding his roots. That goes for both 2D "and" 3D.
Not just great 2D platformers, but also great 3D platformers too. You shouldn't speak for everyone, Yi-Long, as if everyone in the fanbase feels the same way you do.
one of the best. Its a good list though. I kinda wish Sonic Colors is mentioned. Its a good game, and worth checking out regardless of what others think of it. Kirby Epic Yarn as well. Highly underrated.

I agree with Snake not being a patriot. I guess they picked him because he looked like a war hero with a gun, and not based upon their facts/motives in each game character's respective continuities.

well, at least its not another Mario game again. Mario's great and all, but such a choice gets predictable after awhile. List is probably still predictable anyway.
And no one ever wins with lists because of lists. If Mario won, people would complain If its a shooter, people will complain.
