i got there- loved the herds of wilderbeasts legging it about and such but there was crap all to do there (scenario-wise im not talking about all the optional bosses you cant even try to beat till youve finished the game)
totally agree about the ffvi cast- ithink it would be better if they did mario in the sense the game elements characters look like souped up 3d sprites maybe if they did...

it was 2009 in britan too i was playing it last november i think maybe earlier
i thought heavy rain had great face models and superb animation but was pretty buggy and unpolished overall
not even a nomination for production value in my eyes- great game tho

sure that battle system was kind of ok but quite inflexible at times, unless you knew the exact stratergy b4 going into most bosses you couldnt win there was little oportunity to figure it out on the first go and recover

i saw a 3d film when i was a kid and it blew me away- if i could see it would be an early adoptor for sure
mass effect is pretty much the first wrpg ive ever been able to get into, maybe its not wrpg enuf for some
i love it for the same reason i love jrpgs- storyline and fun combat with a little strategy required
i dont think its overrated- i think its one of the those games that reaches a fanbase beyond its genres catch- in the same way ff7 did on ps1
