It is not sales in relation to the competition that matters to a corporation but how much profit they are making. If the X1 sells less than the PS4 but each quarter returns a healthy profit for Microsoft, then the investment to them would be worth it.
Sales in relation to competitor is just for bragging rights and just another thing for PR department to add in their press releases.
And this my fellow gamers is the reason why competition is good.

It is because they have to remodel all cars from scratch for a new gen of consoles and that is why it is not possible to have them all available for launch.
The same thing happened with Gran Turismo 3 a PS2 launch window game shipping with less content than GT2 on the PS1. The same also happened with PGR3 shipping with 80 cars, down from the 110+ cars from PGR2.

People really get the littlest things wind them up. If someone never told me that they were present in Forza motorsport, i never would have known because i just play the damn game like i have always done.
Even if i did know about it, i won't use it because i get a big thrill when i work so damn hard and get enough credits to buy a car i have always wanted. If others prefer other means, then that is their problem and not mine.

I was never into JRPG's before i played Lost Odyssey and immediately after my experience with it, i became hooked. I bought FF13 just because i needed something to cure my JRPG itch and i was so dissapointed. Microsoft needs to realize that there is a niche market for this game and it could do very well if they made one.
There are always limitations with hardware no matter what it is.If there were none, then why aren't games indistinguishable from real life?
There are always graphical effects, physics or non playable characters, features etc that will have to be removed in-order for a game to be OPTIMIZED for systems.
