The fact they're using the same engine is proof enough they're not abandoning the Uncharted IP.
Everyone sees these online anyway. The conferences themselves aren't as important as the announcements within them.
Not every game needs that feature tacked-on.

Sony fans are now Activision/Call of Duty haters? Wow that's one way of looking at it....from an Xbox fanboys point of view. Call of Duty haters are mostly the Battlefield fanboys. It's also the hardcore gamer who is pissed that COD is so popular. Yes, it is also those pissed at the COD/MS deal.
Graphically? Yes.
From a gameplay perspective COD will still be the #1 choice for most.
