@RememberThe357
Regarding advertising, I think Sony didn't want to make the same mistake Toshiba did with HD-DVD: selling high-def player ($100) for less than some DVD players. All that in order to build a user base, which they did quite successfully. Of course, no manufacturer wanted to sell below cost, so they in fact competed with possible partners and were left alone. I think Sony quite successfully found a balance, they sold decent amount of PS3s and gained support from elec...
They are. Just add 20% to Sony sales and subtract 10% from MS sales.

@Darkeyes
"How the hell do you move in a shooter"
Good question. And also how do you control the camera? They would need to include two analog sticks to do that. One joystick on a wand would be playable with one hand, but not two of them, besides that would be something that's already there (Sixaxis), which requires two hands. They could separate the two joysticks onto something stationary or use Dual Shock as they plan to currently, with a holder or cradle...

Seriously that video is amazing!
"I want my experience to be totally Pure when I get this puppy in my hands."
I agree. Once you see this video, it's impossible to erase those mammaries from your head... I mean memories.
"Nothing gets sent to Sony other than re-orders."
"Sony assumes they sold 10,000 units the previous month."
Just curious: how do you know how Sony does business with their partners? I would expect this knowledge from someone working at Sony in Sales or IT department. Or maybe at a retail partner.
That's it? It doesn't do anything else? It Only Does Everything?
What you're saying is logical but doesn't seem to relate to current situation as Greenberg describes it. If Sony and MS sales spike after the price cut (from $400-500 to $300) and then go back to the previous numbers, while Wii stays at $270 selling the same, then the only gain from price cut would be from extra sales for less money ($100-200 less or 25-40% less) during the spike period. After the spike they would sell the same number of cheaper consoles ($100-200 less or 25-40% less). Wii wo...
That Idiocracy movie turns out to be a prophecy.
Really? If things are gonna go back to what they used to be, then why did you cut the price at all?
I'm getting:
"The URL contained a malformed video ID. "
Sony said and Watchdog agreed: 0.5% or 12,500 consoles in UK.
It's obvious that Sony don't advertise their games as some publishers do, but we can debate why. IMO they just don't want to fiercely compete with third party studios and alienate them.
Playstation Repair Action Team - P.R.A.T.?!?! Isn't that a British term for an idiot?
Anyway free media exposure for Sony, and a nice way to slip official failure rate (0.5%) in Sony's letter.
I wouldn't be surprised if Sony were behind all this. They've made controversial commercials in the past.
No need for magic oven for dual console owners. They just need to turn on the 360.
:)
Let me guess: they have three lights?
Where is a picture? Don't write "Japan's Hottest Idol" and not publish a picture. Who approved this? n4g quality has gone down the drain.
:)
@coolirisGB
"No custom art" - you mean a print of how many letters?
This is a newly redesigned console. It's little bit more than 30-40 printed letters on a 4 year old console.
Studios are choosing sides. It's Blu-ray vs. HD-DVD all over again. Valve=Paramount.
even bank employees get bonuses as long as they at least come on time.
