From the article:

"While the Blu-ray picture will not improve on the Profile 2.0 players, they will allow you to chat on-screen with other Blu-ray owners, retrieve free ring tones and play games."

Yeah, when I pop in a movie, these are things that I definitely DON'T think about doing. Was anyone clamoring for this type of capability with their standard DVD players?

Here's a novel thought. I watch movies to watch movies. I don't think, ...

1. Quit their paper route for an upgraded job at McDonalds.
2. Learn to do their laundry so their mothers can have a break.
3. Take a shower.
4. Meet girls.
5. If they're over 30, move out.

Just a few options off the top of my head.

who need aimbots to win at games like COD4. I'm sure these pube-mustache, no-life losers are cheering like 4 year old girls and hugging their life-size Pikachu stuffies upon hearing this news.

If you are a hack that spends their days looking for ways to cheat in this manner, you deserve the self-castration you've given yourself.

have to incorporate ALL previous updates so anyone buying a PS3 off the shelf will have all enhancements. So I don't see the time to download reducing anytime soon, or until the next generation PS3s roll out. Still, I agree it would be nice to have a description of what the update does. Happy gaming.

After all you have said here, I don't understand why you still have a PS3.

Sell it!

You sound disillusioned with your PS3, so I see a bunch of posts that provide you some options. OK, one poster brought up the RROD, but I think he was kidding. Also, I don't see anyone talking about the importance of their systems to their life as a whole, so I don't know where your comment is coming from.

Also, I think you should change your selling strategy. Quote: "Its great you guys can't get enough of your ps3, but I haven't found that same joy. As well as many of ...

If you have the 80gig, you can get pretty darn close to full price for it. Bundle a few of those games you didn't enjoy, and you can really do well selling it. Even the 60gig will fetch you around $400 or so (look at prices on Ebay.) If you prefer the Xbox360, that's your choice and more power to you. However, the PS3 is gaining momentum and if you truly want to sell, now's the time to strike and recover as much of your initial costs as you can. Don't let that fine piece of machinery gat...

but props for creativity. Releasing the night before April Fools, the play on words "Flat" vs. "Home," etc. Be on the lookout for similar fabrications calling it "Abode" or "Domicile"

Peace to all gamers.

Do gamers really care about these numbers anymore? Personally, I could care less about these updates which seem to come out every other minute. Now, if I'm a Sony or MS employee/executive, sure I care because I need to know how to tap that market and get a piece of the action. But as a gamer, I have my consoles/systems and I have a bunch of great games, and I am having a great time with them. Let me ask this question a different way.

Does anyone think Wii owners care about ...

"I don't beleive this."
Did you mean to say "believe?"

Also, "...but consumer electronics company's too."
You should have used "companies" instead of "company's" which is a possessive and not correct for this sentence.

Who should have stayed in school?

Concur, agree wholeheartedly, bubbles for you. Why do we game? To have fun, escape from life for a little while, engage in a little bit of fantasy, etc. I hope Sony continues to work hard to dig out of the hole they were in, and I hope Microsoft can find a way to reduce or eliminate their hardware issues. Peace to ALL gamers.

If we really like a movie, we buy the physical media. If there's a movie we're interested in but don't necessarily want to buy, my wife "Netflix" it.

Here's where an on-demand download service like the Netflix proposal can shine: For movies you're curious about, but hadn't really thought to request in your queue. It's very convenient when something triggers a thought about a movie you were wondering about. You have the ability to check it out right then and ther...

I'm glad someone (Blu-ray) won the format war, but BR execs should watch this closely and don't just sit back. There's a tendency to get comfortable when your rival is down, and if they don't cater to consumers, Blu-ray owners can and will become dissatisfied with the direction of Blu-ray. They need to keep moving the technology forward, offer consumers discounts and promotions, and keep the buzz going as they try for mass adoption. Complacency stifles innovation.

He's pretty much done as an author so I guess he's riding the coattails of his successes writing about the Cold War era. "The Teeth of the Tiger" was boring.

This is asinine. It's like two neighbors trying to outdo each other with Christmas decorations in the yard. At the end of the day, you go in your house and enjoy what you have. I would hate to go through my life envious of what the other guy has when what I have would make me happy regardless.

I hope PS3 owners have a blast with their version. I hope Xbox 360 guys have a blast as well. PC guys? Have a blast. Hell, if it comes to Wii, I hope they have a blast.

Great observation, Gina-get-u.

It will definitely be a balancing act. I also would take into account EA's proficiency in programming for the 360. As they peak, I would guess they would gain proficiency which would allow them to streamline efforts and possibly reallocate resources to other areas (PS3 and Wii).

With proficiency in development as a product progresses through its life cycle, the resource to install base ratio wouldn't necessarily have to be one t...

is absolutely correct, as is the case in pretty much every profit-making venture.

Following that logic, since the install base for 360 is currently reaching its peak, the smart business will continue to develop for that platform. It's just makes business sense to do so. By mentioning the PS3, they acknowledge that there is money to be made there, and they are shifting their business model to match.

So for this year, I see them devoting the majority of resourc...

I play 4 instruments (more if you count the fact that some woodwind fingering is similar across instrument type) and have a lot of fun playing Rock Band. Moreover, my wife who has little to no musical talent plays with me. Although I don't claim to be any sort of virtuoso on the instruments I play, I consider myself competent. What better way for two with such differing ...
