Why people are using this as an opportunity to troll, but I guess its expected here. You're on the money here. And Iwata is absolutely correct. Variety is the spice of life, and as of now, that is what gaming has been lacking. Especially this gen.
One of the problems Wii was trying to solve was the issue of lasped gamers. People want to talk about soccermoms and grandma's playing games, but guess what? During the Atari and NES gens they did.

The entire show was like a huge nostalgia trip. can't wait to get my hands on these games.
But as of now I'm leaning toward fad.
Nintendo would release a new portable AND a new Console in the same year. And the more I think about it, why would they be in any rush to start the next gen of consoles when they are so far and away the market leader this gen.
I'd probably see late 2012 or 2013 for a new home console from them. This gen will be stretched out as everybody tries to survive with financials in such dire straits.

The funny thing here is PS3 dropped the price 100$ last year and now if you want a Move PS3 bundle, Sony is right back to the drawing board.
The new 199$ Bundle Nintendo has out now is a better value. With Motion Controls out the box. Add on tech has a pretty bad history, sales wise.

Are you F*in kidding me? What a clown this dude is. First Motion Controls are a gimmick to this guy, now Sony's Motion is the best, even though its a straight rip off of the Wii. The "Navigation" can't pick up any motion while the Wii's Nunchuck can, m+ and Wand are the same damn tech.
And games are what sells tech to begin with..at least in the gaming industry. You like sorcery but not Harry Potter, you like sports champions but not Wii Sports Resort....

But personally, I'd have prefered a beefed up Twilight Princess Visual style. To this day that game looks great. I was never a fan of Wind Wakers graphics, or the game. I thought of all console 3d Zelda's WW is the weakest entry.

Good point. Also, many areas in the overworld were sometimes to big for their own good. Not much going on, too few enemies. I like this idea of making things more condensed, sort of like ALTTP.
Also I hope folks understand that condensed doesn't neccessarily mean less..Or...I can't explain, just read a thesaurus I guess lol.
This game was more or less my game of the show. DKC was a classic game for the SNES and now it looks like Retro is going to out Rare, Rare lol. It looks gorgeous too.
This game shows Retro's versatility as game designers and really pushes them up a notch in my eyes. The art style for this game (what's been shown so far) looks absolutely beautiful. The video showing Donkey and Diddy in a silhouette form with a sunset background..puts many games on more powerful platf...
I too was taken aback by the visual style, because I was expecting Twilight Princess like art design. But the more I see this in motion, the more warm I get to this new hybrid like style.
But I was never a fan of Wind Waker, the game, or the visual style. So I think this looks way better than WW.
