"No they won't. Why would Japanese devs even bother? I sure as heck wouldn't waste my time and money developing a game on a platform that is scarcely relevant in my primary territory."
I disagree. The state of console gaming in japan is the reason japanese devs need to look to the west to sell their games. At a time when big companies like capcom and sega are posting losses, its pretty obvious, japan is no bed of roses for triple A console games, right now. Why ...
iphone will sell in japan for the same reason it sells everywhere else. Its a pop culture phenom. japan loves western pop culture. but no so much western tech, generally speaking.
"Tomb Raider is a playstation franchise."
since when? I played the first tomb raider on my sega saturn, back in 1996.Then sony paid to keep the second one off the saturn. Not much different to what MS has now done with tomb raider.
Sales? probably yes. Gameplay?...Nah.The competitive MP is simply not as good as halo. It deffo feels like halo underneath...but like an unbalanced halo. My friends dragged me into crucible. I warned them that its...They are used to better, in that area. I was right.
But I like the cop op in this more than halo.
@Mr krispy
I dont know. Maybe they were hoping our version would somehow look worse than theirs. This is the best MP FPS, they ever experienced, on a playstation console. I love destiny..the last 5 hours with the game (with six a small team of my friends) have put any last doubts to rest. But halo still has the more compelling story and superior competitive MP. plus that 60FPS... Glad I will be playing both on the same box, this year!
"MS could have bought up a ton of publisher/developers including Capcom and Crytek for 2 billion"
I am hoping they still do (they should also buy sega sammy)...One will do wonders for them in japan. The other has all kinds of useful tech assets (cry engine and graphics tech in general) as well as their IPs (crysis and timesplitters)
Dat billions!
I want one of these.
I agree. DC should be rated on its own merits as an arcade racer with modern social , sensibilities. I beleive it will teach Polyphony a thing or two. The game looks STUNNING too. Admittedly I am looking forward to FH2 and Project cars more but DC is definitely something worth picking up later down the road, along with the crew. Not like I was going to play four driving games this year in addition to all the other games coming out. some games can get bought in a few months time.
I was watching the live unveiling of the real thing on my tablet earlier. Feast your eyes on this beauty!...

I need this car, in my life!
Im just chiming to say Im chilling in the tower with my boys. On XB1. Ooooooh yesh!see yall later. Dont care what platform you are playing on. I just hope you are all having as much fun as I am.
And for any X1 owners who have not picked it up yet...jump in..It looks lush!
"JP but that quickly died when Ms released the 360 just 4 years later. So to the JP consumer, how can they be supportive of a product if it was going to be deemed obsolete in such a short amount of time."
To be fair, that was due to politics with Nvidia, who manufactured the GPU in the OG Xbox. that was messy stuff.
"The idea that all it takes is some JRPG's to get them to bite into consoles again is a very western view because it seems that JRPG...
Well said, Gohadouken.
The root of their problem stem back to the first xbox. I remember reading exerts from that book about the making of xbox. I can recall how little they understood the area and how they took a very "american" approach to how the pitched the original.
I think they should have set up a few japanese studios themselves. maybe even buying a few of the devs (sega-sammy, treasure and atlus would have been good, buys, along with some small...
I would say it has more to do with the bad reputation the xbox brand has always had in japan, than anything sony is doing.
A lot of japanese people dont even know what an xbox is.
Im not sure why you have disagrees. Who honestly thought they were going to do well in japan? I am an xbox guy, and readily admitted that from day one. They are wasting money, chasing an audience that is almost as fickle as the casual market, these days.
"however this generation is completely different and the 2 main xbox places US and UK are currently being outsold by the ps4"
That does not change the fact that japan always has and always will be a lost cause for Xbox. If anything, the fact that they are losing ground in the UK and US, is exactly the reason why they should not be concerning themselves with selling consoles in that region. They should just focus on US, europe and emerging markets in asia, that are N...
Some sweet motors there. I always have an F40 in my garage in forza. The shelby GT500 will be a nice edition too! I been a fan of that car since the 'need for speed' movie :). That car should be fun, out on the open road. And it will have that nice V8 burble to it. Forza always captures the sound of american big block V8s really well.
PS4 looks a bit brighter, and sharper, but that is the only difference I can see. my guardian edition just arrived so Im gonna install, customize my character...and then wait for my friends. tonight is gonna be a long haul :). Woohooo!
Im going to go out on a limb and say. the largest player base for destiny will actually be the X360. And if a large number of those go digital with their purchase..giving them an x1 verion for free..then destiny may well end up having the larger player base on xbox platforms over all.
And xbox, is the "shooter box" as so many ps fans like to call it. You can bet destiny will sell by the truckload on xbox consoles.
That 50% stake in capcom is still up for grabs. I wonder if MS are getting their wallet, ready, now?
