Did you miss the point of that "old" link, completely?
Word is that they scored this 6.5 because it has NO SINGLE PLAYER. Bah! Up yours PSM! That is, if it's true and not a photo shopped image scan. :P
By the way. The screen shots are from gamespot. Ooops!

They're not saying that the Vizio looks better than the Samsung or Sony's. What they are saying is that the Vizio is pretty good picture for a low price.
Sure, you can get better out there. But you'll have to spend more. This is why Vizio is in Walmart. It's the econo HDTV. Not everyone can afford a Sharp, Sony or Samsung.
If you don't want to spend a lot for Sharp, Sony or Samsung (the best three IMO). The Vizio is great for what you get. It's good choice for a starving college student.
This is true! :D
There on pace to get 400K per household for standalone hd dvd players. And 300K standalone blu-ray players. This does NOT include the 4.7 MIL PS3s already on the MARKET! :P
And here's an interesting article...

Retailers report sales gap closing between two formats

It goes like this...
HD DVD:
1. Universal
2. Viacom/Paramount/Dreamworks (Owner/parent/subsidiary)
Blu-ray:
1. Sony/Columbia/TriStar (Owner/parent/subsidiary)
2. Disney/Pixar/Buena Vista
3. Fox
4. MGM

Epic games will be optimized PERIOD. All other 3rd party devs are shying away from the URE. It's this is not about the PS3, per se. But rather a competition between Epic and other 3rd party developers that they compete with (license the Unreal Engine).
So, isn't not only Silicon Knights. But Digital Extremes that is wary of EPics own monopoly on the game engine industry.
EOM
Could you please do your research before you post. 51GB aren't even possible since they are having trouble reaching the theoretical limit.
That's like Blu-ray trying to get 33GB or 66GB, which is their theoretical limit for the blu-ray spec.
ElementX,
Why do you care? You're an xboy boy anyways. :P

Not bad considering the stand...
Daytona,
Names can be relearned. Just like during VHS, people were willing to learn DVD (Digital Versatile Disc/Digital Video Disc). Blu-ray (also called BD-ROM, BD-R, and BD-RE) can also be learned. You put too much stock in that DVD name. Heck, we've even seen people call Blu-ray, High Dev DVD. Ha! What's important is what the format gives them in return. High-Def movies - Blu-ray. It's catchy!
Rama26285,
If you want to include labour, packaging, advertising, machinery, factories. Then, you might as well include the game division losses M$ incurs as well. Yeah, they use Office and Windows sales to subsidize the 360.
Also remember that the original price lost was $250 - $320 per PS3 at launch depending on the model (20GB/60GB). This was 9 months ago. And we already know that Sony has reduced production cost, blue-diodes, blu-ray drives (price cuts) and ...
The article is just a SKEPTICS piece.
I agree with him that the conveniences of DVD over VHS were greater than Blu-ray over DVD. And that Blu-ray (or HD DVD) shouldn't be seen as an innovation as much as evolution. I disagree with him on the degree of adoption that VHS to DVD never had to experience. And that's the form factor. Thus, the ease of adoption for Blu-ray over DVD is less intrusive.
CD/DVD discs work in a Blu-ray player. But VHS tapes did NOT work in a...
Ok, first of all. We're not Zombies! We're Cows! Or Proud Bovines! Or if you want to be general. PS3 fanboys. Get it right man!
And if anyone calls me a PS3 fanboy. My reply...Yeah, and?
And PS3 fans prefer to play it on the PS3 and NOT buy a 360! PWNED!
Xbox Live must be running on Windows! :P
OPM, PSM, and EGM!
Even a few months after the PS3 launch PSM were saying things that were anti-Sony. Crazy black propaganda! And we all know what happened to OPM. They got axed.
