They will only learn if it costs them money. If this policy loses them audience and in turn 3rd party publishers start to lose slaes because of this, MS will change. If not and if this business model works out for them and those publishers, it will stay and 3rd party publishers will impose DRM on the PS4. This is why i am hoping consumers will take a stand and say no...
Because last generation, Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony had the same similar stance with regards to DRM policy and 3rd party publishers.
This generation is different because Microsoft has implemented this obviously with backing from some sources in the gaming industry. If this model PROVES to be profitable for Microsoft and those publishers who are on board, you can bet your ass the others will follow as it means more money. This is what scares me. I am hoping this fails so the course i...
Of course its development costs. With each generation game creation costs and man power costs rise significantly. To offset this most 3RD party houses go multi-platform to make greater ROI. Simple economics. Larger pool of possible buyers translates to more revenue which in turn translates to profit.
PC game creation for triple A titles also rose significantly and creating games on the PC is by far the easiest format. Yet costs increased.
The only 3rd party exclusives you wi...
Get rid of DRM for YOUR games and leave it to publishers for 3rd party games like Sony is doing...Gee...Like last generation.
Then bite the bullet and sell it for $399.
Will this happen anytime soon? Nope. MS has to lose significant money and face before they turn it around. Look how long it took them to put back the start button in Windows 8 even though countless reviews, opinions, customers said they wanted it back...It took lost sales and major backlash for MS to respond. ...
You can bet your ass most publishers will if it makes them more money and XboxOne proves to be profitable in this regards for their games and publishers.
Microsoft and some of its partners embracing this is not good news for gamers as other publishers will follow most definatley. This is what pisses me off. If MS took the stance of Sony and essentially like last generation.
"Let publishers decide" and leave it be, we would not be in this mess. But by MS embracing thi...
"What is new stays the same..."
These consoles are essentially closed architecture of what a comparable PC three or fours years ago could do. Nothing more nothing less.
For the first time since a new console launch, gaming PC's and Gaming Laptops are significantly more powerful then a New Launch Console. That is telling in itself
Totally up to the publisher. If they want to block it...They will. The sad part is 85% of games released in a calendar year are 3rd party games... Welcome to the new age of gaming ladies
We already knew this was coming... Most if not all 3rd party publishers will do this...More money for them
Yes. Sony did the right thing business wise. Hell yes I would have done the same thing and gone even further. This is a business and not charity... Sony went for the jugular and scored.
Now here is hoping 3rd party publishers/developers don't rain on this parade and enable DRM for their games....
The problem is Fanboys think its personal and the console business is a charity and pissing contest not a business.
There will be practically no 3rd party exclusives anymore due to development costs. We saw this with the PS3 and Xbox360...Even more so now...
Now the real question is:
Will 3rd party Publishers and developers adopt this DRM? God I hope not.
Sony for ITS GAMES WILL NOT but there is no mention of 3rd party titles.
I can already see where this is going unfortunately ...
So who cares if it goes multi-platform? As long as it comes out for the system you own all is good. This fanboy stuff crap has to stop. It's pathetic.
Looks stunning
You do know you can own a console also? Juts saying...
Sony won just on Price alone... Major coup for Sony. MS dropped the ball huge not even including DRM.
Actually future for console gaming as it is now has no future. Its going to be all cloud based in the near future like PC gaming.
And the death of the PC ALWAYS happens when new consoles are released. Then in 1-2 years after release and PC's have once again fully surpassed them, the talk stops... Happens always.
Take a look at the games on these New consoles now.
They look like PC games years ago. PC is an open format and evolves. Consoles do not. Ask yourself h...
Being Humbled can bring changes. Kudos Sony. They learned....Obviously Microsoft has not...
Higher Clock Rates mean very little...which IRONICALLY AMD proved against Intel during the Pentium / Athlon Era.
And remember when most on this site screamed how they would never pay to play online....... LOL How it comes back to bite your ass...This is why being a Fanboy and a hypocrite never pays off LOL
