Have not seen anything from MS that suggests they are planning/willing to create the constant stream of Japan specific titles needed to win over Japan. Western games will not do it.

It is two early for N to be making that sort of decision, they are still in a healthy position, but they are at risk. The industry moves so quickly, the mighty can fall, just ask Atari.
They have already lost the Next-Gen console war, with the Wii-U failing to re-capture peoples imagination like the original Wii. If PS4 and XO fail in the same way, then the whole console market will crumble. Either way Wii-U is not going to be leading it.

I have so much respect for David Cage. Love his work and cannot wait for Beyond. It is possible that you have to be an "older" gamer to understand. Not sure heavy Rain would make sense to someone who doesn't have children, at least not in the same way.

There are lots of great games available for both consoles at launch, most of which aren't exclusive. Personally I am most looking forward to Watch_Dogs. There are also exclusives in both camps that I would be interested to play. There is no lack of great content at launch.
But to decide which console to buy, I guess I take a longer view, and my purchase will not be governed by the 4-5 exclusives avail on a system day one, when I then live with the decision for 6-7 years. ...

Buying a console is a 6+ year investment. Look at the history of current gen games, and the full list of next gen announced games (wiki offer great lists for both parties).
Go with the party that makes the games you like best, and that you trust to deliver those games over the full life-cycle of the console.
I struggle to understand why this is even still a conversation.
It is clear that technology is always improving, and that PCs which are released with updates regularly and can be continuously upgraded with the latest tech.
Consoles stuck in time for 6-7 years will always be behind. That is not news.
However, console advantages are numerous and with the release of Next Gen, the current gap between very high end PCs and consoles will be great...

The potential Chinese market is huge. If China does lift the ban, then there is enormous potential here. Perhaps this venture gets around the ban, because it is 51% chinese owned.
Sounds like we are years away from any new game from these guys though. Oh well.
