it is common by todays developers to use the gpu for many more things then graphics calculations since its just made for intensive calculations.
its the same "almost" as a cpu just very dedicated to certain kind of tasks.

I looove kojima for his immense storytelling and design, he created a universe so incredible detailed and well just mindblowing. Almost every other game uses like 5% of metalgears deepness storywise and that could be the problem for them. (Similar games rpgs dont count)

Realisticly speaking theay didnt change the bunblde because of any individual or group
its a matter of pricing and revenue, the only chance to lower the endprice so quickly once a lifecycle is running is either:
-make a new SKU (no time - skus are planed years ahead)
- lower production costs (not efficient since the roadmap is allready set for new skus etc.)
- cut out parts of the box
ms did this to be competitve on the market...

the demo was made focusing on one effect at a time by selecting "demo" areas inside the stage

Peoples lives change and so do theyre Interesets and Jobs, its a ever changing process,
