Yeah the Wheelman got delayed too, but I think that'll be good for it. I wish ALone in the Dark had been delayed again so they could sort some of it out!! Now I hear the PS3 version will have more work done to it because it is a later version.....they should have done it for the 360 version too!

My information is that only the names of the drugs have been changed in the new submitted version. Could be wrong, but I'd bet that was the only problem.

I don't agree: the problem with Assassin's Creed wasn't that it's controls were too simple...that was fine. The problem was the repetition of missions and the total lack of importance of the Kingdom area. It needed better gameplay, not more complicated controls.

Though I don't agree with everthing said, there are some points to be made about how hardcore gamers see gaming and how potential casual gamers don't.

I'm happy gaming is losing the 'nerd' status and becoming more mainstream. More mainstream hopefully means more money into the industry which will hopefully translate into better games with more depth of experience with more simplicity of interaction.

Yeah this whole intense online teamwork thing is killing it for me: Why So Serious....

I don't think it is only about having very simple 'Wii play' type games only, I think it is about making deep and intelligent games too...only more accessible to more people.

I never played any MGS fully (wasn't my thing) but MGS4, despite the usual long winded cinematic and conversations, was great fun even for those who have not played the series before. You could play it as an advanced MGS gamer and do the sneak around and gadget approach, or if you wanted to you could play i...

I think that attracting more non-gamers to the fold is a good thing (yes even if it is with Wii Fit....). I'm in my thirties and most of the people around me weren't interested in gaming, but only recently if the games are accessible enough, they are interested and enjoy it.

I think games shouldn't only cater to the hardcore and should try to go for as many as possible by having simpler control schemes to begin with but different difficulty levels. Or some for hardcore and some...

I've actually got the Wii as well brainiac. You like your console, I get that, and I like my PS3 too (mostly for blu ray to be honest). Go back to a PS3 thread now, there's nothing for you here....

That's funny. I have both consoles, so I don't care, but that's just funny...The PS2 is doing well...PS3...another matter.

Is there a Burnout one? Just kidding...I suck at all racers, even arcade ones.

I just hope Aussie gamers stop focusing on "our rights as adults" which will get us nowhere with the ignorant law-makers....we've got to show how useless the current rating system is in doing what it's for.

We need a more coherent argument than: "I should be allowed to do what I want!!"

I loved how the article contrasted how games are rated in different countries to ours....exactly what the focus should be on.

I think it must depend on the style of gamer you have: some just want to have a good escape, shoot a bunch of bad guys and move on. Some are looking for an experience they can explore, revisit, and try things in, and some would like a good story. Some want all that.

Far Cry 2 does look fantastic but games like this need to almost force players to explore to enjoy the work they've put into them. Some games have open worlds but you only have the side-quests that many don't do to...

I was thinking the same thing about Mercenaries: now that I've enjoyed Bad Company I wonder if their destructible environments will compete.

Fracture looks like the environments, thought destructible, are very bland, so I hope that improves.

I think games have to be good but part of the immersion is 'where' you are as much as who you are and what you are doing. Atmosphere is important and games too often do the same level styles (especially shooters and GTA type games!).

The funny thing is that looking at both articles it seems the independent studios are trying the most to have interesting locations!

An online-only game is too basic. Kill them, protect that. Sure it's fun but too basic an experience. Single player is WAY more important to me with story, new level types, etc. The depth of games with a good single player greatly outweighs a bunch of deathmatch games imo.

Second online is not what everyone wants, despite what Microsoft and others will say. I still like split-screen with friends and family over the drunk laggy swearfest with anonymous trained online commandos...

Say for example you buy one of his 'coded' games for the Xbox 360. Your 360 gets the red light and dies and you have to buy a new console. Then you can't use the game you paid for and have to buy another copy to get a new code???.....This will only encourage piracy. Look at PC.

Codes and download-only games may cut down the secondhand market but I think this is wrong. I will not even play half the games I do without the second hand market. I can't afford a lot of games at $1...

I'd rather that game-makers take their time if a game isn't ready (right Alone in the Dark???). Nothing worse than a could-have-been game being released too early. On the other hand Alan Wake is taking FOREVER...he he.
