That’s not how game development works. Even if a big company funds the development they will still need to sell units to make a profit. The fact of the matter is that Spider-Man is going to be the most profitable game Insomniac has ever made. Why would they waste time on a game that was a commercial failure, when they could be working on another game in a multi-million unit selling franchise. And Marvel has already said they want to make more games with Sony. More Sony Spider-Man games are ...
Jim Sterling has brought up the issue 2 maybe 3 times over the past year and change and what he does is irrelevant to this site in which the whole purpose is for other sites to use this site to generate clicks visibility and ad revenue. This site had more cross play articles on the top list in the past 24 hours than Jim Sterling has done total in over a year.
And it's not that the issue shouldn't ever be discussed, I didn't comment about it until literally doze...
My point is this topic has been talked about for well over a year, the same arguments have been made over and over again Sony has made their position clear.
At this point there is little point in discussing it over and over again. The people who are making the articles are not going to change the issue nor do they think they are. They keep making the articles because they know it's what is going to get clicks or because of other biased motivations.
Well except Xbox which is behind 360 by nearly 5 million units in aligned sales as well as the Switch which is still behind the Wii. The main reason why this gen is ahead of last gen is the remarkable global success of the PS4.
Well... no, I agree they do it a lot. But I disagree that they do it well.
They have had big mouths and been all talk all gen. But the reality is it's not selling consoles they are still getting outsold by PS4 3:1 and Switch 2:1.
And as for minimizing talk of exclusives, heh N4G had to put a ban on articles talking about xbox's lack of exclusiv...
That's not really the way overclocking works (generally gains are -10% so 6+ fps) especially when the baseline is top of the line hardware which obviously EA is going to be using.. And regardless, I was past 1080p 20+ years ago. Actually TBH I have never even owned a 1080p monitor I went from CRT to a 30" dell 16:10 and have been using 1440p144hz for gaming for years and more recently 4k for art/editing.
But I mean again, if you want to trade slightly better light...
Do you think it's really preferable to play a game like this at 1080p which struggles to have 60 FPS but ray tracing or 1440p and 144+ FPS with slightly worse lighting or 4k with 60+ FPS and slightly worse lighting?
Lets be realistic here, if ray tracing has so much overhead that you have to dial your game back to 1080p it's not ready for prime time.
It's a nice tech, but the current hardware simply isn't powerful enough to make the costs ...
I'm not even going to dignify you with a long reply. You make more comments on the site than nearly everyone people know what your opinions are and your motivations. I will just let the agrees and disagrees speak for themselves.
Why would you reply like that? The industry is trying to push this right now...
A lot of people don't realize how far off this tech is, imho I am giving a more accurate statement about Ray Tracing that you will hear from EA or Nvidia.

Or maybe people just have an agenda and a bias and are fishing for clicks and attention.
How long are you going to harp on this issue, you blog plus three other articles all approved with in an hour of each other.
I'm sure there is no bias among the mods.
