The media crapped all over this game when it released and so no one bought it, I really enjoyed it though even back then.
Left Alive from Square Enix has a very similar story, but again the media crapped all over it, so it didn't sell... I thought it was good and had fun stealth and trap gameplay and some shooting when you got better guns. I wonder if in 15-20 years everyone will say that's good too.
Well, one thing we can all be sure of is that Microsoft didn't delay the release of Starfield until after the finish of Activision buyout in order to shield themselves from people seeing the actual effect of Microsoft's Bethesda purchase.
And since Microsoft has shown itself to be fully ethical in all actions, we can trust that this isn't propaganda.
“In the course of a conversation on a different topic between Mr. Spencer and Mr. Kotick, Mr. Spencer raised that Microsoft was interested in discussing strategic opportunities between Activision Blizzard and Microsoft and asked whether it would be possible to have a call with Mr. Nadella the following day,”
That seems like a very likely scenario, and largely tracks with my belief on how we got to this point.
But I would argue that Microsoft has already reached the point where people don't buy their systems. Imagine if Covid hadn't evened out the console production so much. If PlayStation had sold what Sony was estimating before covid, they would be around 80m consoles sold right now. Heck, right now they are selling consoles at a rate above the original estimates ev...
So that article you linked says there were multiple interested parties, so you don't think one was PlayStation... the company who was making them the most money wasn't one of them... not likely...
You kind of contradicted your own statement.
But to answer your basic premise, the only reason it's Microsoft buying Activision is because they have 2 trillion dollars they made from everything other than xbox to buy Activision.
I mean, they can't even finish a sentence without lying and admitting they are lying in the very same sentence... One comma seperated the truth from the lie here.
They call Jim Ryan a liar because he says "we belive in generations" meanwhile who is the only first party with next gen exclusives... and LAUNCHED with next gen exclusives, had a new controller a new audio chip a new UI ect.
It's unfortunate that anyone falls for Microsoft...
You guys are perpetuating a lie. Phil Spencer himself (although of course Phil could be lying, it does seem to be his M.O.) said that after the workplace abuse scandal that Microsoft approached Activision.
"Game Pass prices will not increase as a result of the Merger, and certainly will not increase to a point that offsets the substantial benefits of Activision titles coming to Game Pass on a day and date basis"
What a Microsoft statement.
So they say, "Game Pass prices will not increase as a result of the Merger" Then they instantly correct themselves and say this "and certainly will not increase to a point that offsets the substa...
Activision made their deal with Sony because Sony was generating 13% of the total revenue that Activision was earning and Microsoft was generating so little less than 1% of Activision revenue.
They didn't need to buy Activision, they spent the past 30 years building up a strong relationship with Activision and selling their products, both making billions in profits together.
Microsoft needs to buy Activision because they failed to run xbox successfully, who's fault that Microsoft went 10 years and only released a number of first party games you can count on your fingers.
Microsoft should be embarrassed that they NEED to buy Activision...
If I was in charge of Sony I would be strongly considering just dropping COD completely, why give Microsoft money that you made by 30-40 years of hard work.
Microsoft is in this situation because they failed to run xbox properly. There is a fair chance that none of this will save them and that a bunch of these studios that Microsoft has bought will end up like Lionhead when they can't turn a profit, esp using a subscription.
I notice there has been a deluge of incredibly one-sided articles online today, too. All equally outlandish, as if they were trying to outdo one another for a big prize.
