This looks like a great game on its own merits, don’t let fanboys making it the "GOW killer" distract you.
I'm a castlevania fan and this is my most wanted game now.
And this reboot is inspired by super castlevania not symphony of the night.
The reviewer was disappointed this wasn’t more like the Metroidvania games but he should have looked at this game as a standalone experience.

This is a bit off topic, but Is the DLC for Dragon Age 1 region locked?
My games region is North America but my PSN is euro zone, will the DLC work?
CVG say the game takes about 25 hours, others say it's about 20+, so this maybe a new standard in a hack & slash game.

I think you just thought of something great, a 3D Metroied game like Batman AA.
I'm renting the game just for the story. If they Improved on the gameplay from Heavenly Sword (great game in my book) this would have been a must buy.
For DMC I wish they would get experts from capcom to implement the combat engine, because I don’t think they can handle it. And changing the character design goes without saying.
RPG may be the one genre that doesn't fit motion controls, most games last 30+ hours with long sessions.
Tales of Symphonia 2 on the Wii had point and click controls, but they got old and tiring after just a day, then used the D-pad and buttons for the rest of the game.
Same goes for 3D.
So far every review is confirming my three pillars of a classic game: Gameplay, story, graphics.
Unfortunately their talent is for graphics and cinematics only, they struggle with gameplay.
The scores I have seen for Quantum Theory are like a countdown, 5-4-3-2, its only missing 1 and 0.
From now on it's only rent or buy used for Activision games.

This single player DLC is the only one I'm interested in.
When I look at multiple reviews I don’t notice a repeating complaint
One complains about hard boss fights
Another about copying other games
Another about not matching the Metroidvania.
So it's more likely nitpicking by them, but on the other hand the good things are repeatedly praised, like story, gameplay and graphics.
