Even if M$ and Nintendo release a more powerful console in 3 to 4 years it wouldn't do anything to improve games, remember a developer has to get used to a hardware before the full benifits come out. blu ray movies are 1080p, so it's going to look better on a 1080p TV than the 1080i you get from your HDDVD add on. Also TrueHD audio sounds alot better. HD addon is not even the same league to compare to the PS3 blu ray. Well I'm getting the curse of the black pearl and deadman's chest on blu ray and it's in 1080p to go with my 1080p samsung.
on cost reduction, since they don't have to pay someone else to make their product. The PS3 is only been out 6 months and already has a $100 price drop. You can assume by next 2008 holiday season it'll drop another $100 to $399. So if both consoles in up being a $100 apart I think PS3 will offer the better value than the premium. 60gb instead of 20gb, bluetooth, hdmi, card reader, and of course blu ray. That is alot of features for $100 don't you think.

Blue dragon is on a 3 disc set, remember bill gates said that 360 will have a hddvd drive in it, but they rushed the 360 to get the year head start and only hurt the console in the long run. I think Sony did the right thing, if you're not going to release something far superior than a PS2 then why release a PS3 when the PS2 is still outselling every console out. PSN is suppose to get that update soon, and basically PSN will have the same features as xbox live, except SOny will still provide servers unlike M$ that is raping it's customer by giving us P2P connection. The only game I play on 360 is Gears of War, and I'm starting to get fed up with the lag and host shotgun crap. I like the game but it's fustrating that I have to pay and when I play resistance 40 players online and hardly any lag for free. It's not the money but we should be geting better...

people are complaining about M$ because the hardware failure is so high. Every electronic device has 3-5 percent failure rate at launch, 360 has 25-30 percent which is extremely high. Most 360 games are PS2 ports or are on the PS3 as well, so what are these AAA titles besides GEOWars that you speak off that make the 360 so great. If your going to judge by software then just buy a PS2 and save your money.
