I really found it off-putting, maybe I'm getting too old for this kind of gimmick. Would kids like it? maybe, if they wanted to move around, but adults playing these games made me cringe.
I thought the Nintendo tree house would convince me that the games were solid at launch and that I'd see more games from developers like ubisoft, sega, EA, square, etc... but they focused yet again on the Joycons and they looked ridiculous playing it.
They need to redeem themselves quickly, bc there are ping pong games out there, there are sword games out there...but are there experiences you can have in your living room and take on the go that exemplifies solid video g...
They alienated me, someone who has been playing Nintendo games from the NES days, with the first 10 minutes of their presentation for the sake of a "new audience" that probably won't buy this pseudo-console.

Ed Boon and his team just excels in creating fighting games, sure they've had their ups n downs when MK first went into the 3D realm, but they've reeled in the formula. Makes you wonder what they could do outside of the fighting genre. I'd like an MK action beat them up in the veins of GOW. I know there's a PS2 game out there that resembles the idea, but it could be refined.
It is enticing but man I don't even know if I have the time or the patience to go through the list as I tend to be a completionist, hehe. Great stuff nonetheless. Glad to see contests are back :)
if that's what it takes to make these games mainstream again and gain popularity among a new audience, then by all means, but dont just slap a title onto it and make a sucky movie.
Agreed, it has to be technically flawed to the point of being unplayable to get a 4.
Frustration and gameplay style shouldn't factor into the score because it is the matter of opinion. Give the game the score it deserves and then choose to recommend it or not.
That actually sounds like really good advice. I always get bogged down on quests bc I want to collect stuff to use later in crafting and or to grind so I'm not faced with a stronger boss than my party. Good stuff.
Oh man I just read a bit of info on this guy and he seems like an egomaniac ever since he's taken up the franchise and he doesn't care for the legacy at all. Even if Sega decided to resurrect the Shining Force series, it would have to be under former Sonic software planning (non existent) as well as Hiroyuki Takahashi and Yasuhiro Taguchi.

I did want to see it in action, Nintendo has been so hushed about it that there's a void as to what it can really do so of course everyone else is trying to fill in that void without any real facts.
Mine is alive and thriving. I still buy ps1 and ps2 classics for it, I have a huge library of games and I remote play ps4 games when I feel like it. Without mentioning all the third party support.

I also prefer the main protagonist in Kingsglaive. He made me truly care about the lore and the plot. Upbeat, comedic at times and not so sullen like Noctis.
I didn't find it just okay, I actually enjoyed the story telling, the soundtrack and the characters.
LOL isn't it tho, the political intrigue, the gameplay, the character development, the amazing soundtrack, the Shining Force 3 trilogy has it all.
