What if the music isn't available where you are. Having lived abroad I got into some local music which is not published here. Should I go through the grey market and import? Isn't that slightly less than fully legal? What if it's a foreign film and I'm not in the same region for DVD or Blu-Ray? Should I get a multi region player? Isn't that apparently a bit naughty or is that only of I import to avoid the extortionate local prices for things?

I thought the system was supposed to run along the lines of. 7 is good, if you like the genre then really good. 8 is great, fantastic if it's your kind of game, 9 is outstanding, must buy even if you don't like that kind of game much and 10 is Tony Hawk 3 and the Secret of Monkey Island. If anyone else wants a 10 then they need to start sacrificing their first born and doing Hoodoo dances.

No, piracy started because there was a problem to be solved and idle minds bored with their dead end jobs. It moved from a purely intellectual exercise to a commercial one due to the high prices. It became possible to make it a commercial exercise because too many were fed up with high prices and lack of funds.

They may not have sold too well but they are all grand. At least half of the released titles sold well enough to warrant a sequel.
What's with the disagrees? My point is that we're only drowning in a sea of games. Minor iterations of franchises are sold in larger quantities but so are Dan Brown books most people stick to the familiar and however much advertising you throw at them they will only buy new things on personal recommendations.

I think he's looking at it backwards. Reduced game prices are a cure for piracy. So long as it is realized that not all people who pirate a game are possible customers. Those people could possibly be persuaded to rent through a subscription based system included in their internet price.
