Yeah used Wii are less than 100.00 now so you wont get more than 20.00 to 40.00 for it. If I had a Wii I'd just keep it for my collection and not throw it away just for some company to resell after shafting you on it.

Pikmin started as a Wii game using the IR pointer options. Something the gamepad doesnt do anyway and considering even the person playing the game admits that its the superior method of control why would Nintendo need to change it?

Sounds more like a preference to me, rather than an issue of "High tech","Low tech". Some people may prefer to update manually but they will still be using the same system to do it as auto update would. The only real difference is the updates will be ready before you start playing rather than having to pause starting to play to update.
