The Ps4 uses DirectX btw, MS owns DirectX, so Sony and MS probably got an agreement with each other to use each others tech license free.
Sun and Oracle also get money, considering java is used on Bluray disc's.
srcasm: Yeah, those 10ns of millions of MS their money going to Sony will really hurt them. /sarcasm
Besides, they also had to pay royalties to use the dvd player, it doesnt make much of a difference.
Well, they are hoping to set their console apart from the rest.
The tech doesnt differ much in power and price, it really is Kinect that raised the price.
Kinect is an expensive piece of equipment that had a lot of hours of R&D into it.
I doubt the pre orders for the XB1 and Ps4 can sell out at all.
They will just keep taking pre orders, and try to fill them as best they can.
I predict shortages coming up that may last months into 2014.
Yep, third one, Namco made 2 other Mario GT games, both came to the west.
I like the Mario bros 3d land stage in this game.
Seems the ps4 has its motherboard vertical, which you see in a lot of office desktop pc's, while MS went for a console traditional horizontal layout.
This results in the ps4 being less wide then the XB1, but it do is longer/deeper.
The real advantage in size from the ps4 comes from its height, the XB1 is thicker.
If you are right, then enjoy it by then.
Its likely that they are talking about the X1 version here, as the devs themselves said that the XB1 is the target platform.
To me it doesnt matter much tho, i am not high on online shooters.
I am more excited about the fullhd 60fps smoothness that forza5 will deliver.
Havok would be a better option.
Physx is gpu only, and you dont want to let the GPU do extra work, while you got plenty of cores on your cpu to do all that work.
Gpgpu like techniques became obsolete thanks to multi core processing.
Back in the days when processors had only one thread they where constantly bottlenecked by physics, but now with multiple threads per cpu, its pointless to offload physics to the gpu.
Yep, Microsoft ftw, because their Direct-X interface is what made pc gaming possible in the first place.
Without direct-x it would have been impossible to develop games for a platform with so many differences.
No matter how hard you optimize a game for the ps4, it would never be able to run a high end game on Double fullHD with 120 frames per second, which your pc is perfectly capable of.
So consoles really dont stand a chance.
I hope you preordered you console of choice, otherwise you wont be able to get one before April 2014.
A lot of gaming motherboards can even handle 24 GB of ram, combine that with 4GB of vram, en you have 28GB of ram, that is much faster then the ram in consoles in both latency and bandwidth.
Technically gaming pc's are also gaming devices.
Because people buy those for gaming, not for other things.
But yeah, they have the specs, but they also had that with the ps3.
Lets see if the architecture will hold up against the competition.
Specs are not the whole story, i thought people would have learned that by now.
The ps3 games are not better looking at all the xbox360 games, they are about the same, its nitpicking at best.
And yes the 360 had lower specs, and yet it managed to keep up thanks to its architecture.
Kwietstorm,
Thats not what i summed up at all.
Dont put your words in my mouth.
Physx was designed to take some stress off the cpu by offloading some instructions to the gpu, if the gpu isnt maxed out.
These days however processors got multiple threads, and therefore dont need to offload physic to the gpu anymore.
Physx is kind of obsolete ever since multi core computing set it.
Physx 3.0 (2011) is even optimised for multi threading for crying out loud, which is a cpu thing.
And gddr5 again isnt useful for physx, it...
Depends on your taste.
Imho, Hell no.
But i can see people going for whatever console has the most likeable exclusives.
