My personal 10 (in no order at all.)

1. The Last of Us
2. South Park
3. Beyond Two Souls
4. The Walking Dead
5. Metal Gear Rising: Revengence
6. Dark Souls 2
7. Dead Space 3
8. God of War Ascension
9. GTA 5
10. This one is a fight between Tomb Raider and Bioshock Infinite. Neither one seems to be like a Day 1 buy, but both look alright enough to warrant a purchase.

Although I played it already, so it wasn't spoiled, I think anything Two years or younger should not be able to be spoiled that openly. It's an amazing game, and spoilers really do ruin the experience.

I enjoyed this game a lot, but it's too flawed to get GOTY in my opinion. A game like Journey, Hitman, or Borderlands deserves it more imo.

People blame video games because it is the easiest thing to blame for all our problems. Whenever something bad happens, we need something to blame. It is how we were designed. In a divorce, it's a stereotype that the child blames him/herself. Is it his/her fault? No. If anything, violence in video games prevents violence in real life. You know who we can blame? Bad parenting.

I like how Metal Gear Solid does it. Sure, the cut scenes are long, but you can skip them all. Accidentally hit a button? No problem, it gives you a warning before you skip important information towards the story.

First of all, I mentioned more than just the lackluster menus/loading screens

When did I personally mention SSB? The only one in that series I've played is Brawl, and personally I'm not a huge fan. All-Stars is great, but you can't give it a perfect score, or the dev's will think that menus/rosters/ ect don't matter. Everything should be perfect for a perfect score. With nothing great about the game other than the gameplay, I feel as though a 6/10 is suita...

You obviously didn't read what I said. Let's do some basic math. 6 points for just gameplay, so obviously gameplay is the most important thing. The arcade mode was garbage enough to bring it down at least a point, same with the boring menus/loading screens ect... And shouldn't a "roster fighter" have a solid roster? IMO, many, MANY characters are missing out, even First Party characters like ICO, Wander, Nathan Hale, and so on. There are the other two points.

The gameplay is the only thing going for this game. The menus are mediocre, the roster is lacking, and the music, although catchy, is just alright. Don't get me started on arcade mode.
However, the balancing is near perfection, and gameplay is amazing. 6/10 is spot on for this game.

Metal Gear Solid 4 takes the cake, hands down. Demon's Souls, Heavy Rain, Uncharted 2, and inFAMOUS 2 were also classics worth a mention.

agreed. It is totally worth a mention while talking about GOTY. Games like Journey and Borderlands 2 can be argued to be better, but IMO The Walking Dead comes out on top.

If you don't mind, I'm going to dip into TV shows and say Walter White (Breaking Bad) and Dexter Morgan (Dexter) are my favorite villains from anything ever, except Metal Gear Solid, which I am glad was mentioned.

@Everybody. I could have sworn MGS4 came out in 09. Same with LBP. I guess I should just change the year to 2008.

You're the type of person that makes up PS/Xbox fans look bad. The Wii U may have had a weak launch line up, but hardcore games like Zelda and Smash Bros, along with New IP's, are coming. Don't forget that the PS3 didn't get any noteworthy titles until 2009 (Resistance aside). I don't own an Xbox, so I won't give my opinion on that.

They only thing I agree with that you said, is that the Wii U focuses on Casual gamers more, which should hinder Dark So...

As long as something gimmicky isn't shoved into the game to support the Wii U game pad, I'm fine with it.

@adorie Only 9-12 hours? In my opinion, you have low standards. I feel like 14-20 hours is good, 20-25 hours is great, and 25+ is too much for a main story.

When a game is released yearly, it's hard to do something mind blowing and just flat out amazing. So no.

this is a user on IGN, no one who works for that company shares this opinion, at least that I know of.

In my opinion, just because it is technically very linear (since the main story is always the same), and very buggy, the story, connection between players, and all on the fly decisions (even if most didn't matter) made this game my personal favorite of the year, rivaled only by Journey. I have yet to play Borderlands 2, so I'm not sure if I'd throw that up there with the two downloadable titles.

Finally, a way to kill without using a special.
