Yeah, the guy is great.
Nice, when I first read your username I immediately had to assume you would be a microshaft fanbaby. Seeing as the word "game" wasn't plural, and the 360 is suffering terribly when it comes to having any game worth attention. Frankly, you'd be a fanbaby for even thinking one of their exclusives would be worth playing these days. Gears 3 has been horrible thus far, the worst script in a video game since Gears 2. Halo is milked past death and decay, and Bungie doesn't even...
The move isn't struggling, it's doing pretty well. What planet are you on?
If you want to see struggling, look at Kinect and how high a mountain they have to climb to cover the costs of their ridiculous advertising campaigns, that even included opening up many many shops in malls across the world.
Yeah... that is struggling. They will never break even. It's like the whole Halo thing, when you need to climb over hundreds of millions of dollars to c...
First off: Gears 3 looks worse than 2. That isn't saying a whole lot. It's the same rehashed crap over and over, the 360 reached it's limit.
And Forza.... HAHHAHAHAHAHA... right.... Maybe if you said GT5, but Uncharted 3 would still have the crown. Forza: Kiddie Kinnect edition looks like complete crap. Don't confuse the one trailer where you have a car sitting static, and you rotate your camera around it. The game couldn't even pull that off well, with ba...
The interesting part about this isn't really whether a console released 5 years ago, could compete with a PC bought today. The real interesting part is that this technology that should be dated, is still providing possibly some of the most cost effective computing power out there.
What your suggestion fails to take note of is that:
3.4GHz i7 >= PS3 Price
8 GB RAM > PS3 Price (unless you buy cheap RAM)
High End Graphics Card >> PS3 Price...
This article needs some fact checking. Kits are not identical to retail units.
The kit on my desk right now has the option to switch to 1 GB of RAM, 2 Ethernet ports, and many other differences.
The guy is talking out his arse.
Isn't this a scratched disc waiting to happen, if you get it for your 360? Microsoft specifically stated on the console case that you should not move the console when it is operating.
@ sidar
The whole push for the current generation of consoles was to centralize your living room in one unit. Nintendo failed miserably at this, since their console was not qualified to substitute much of any other electronic in your living room. Sony has captured the HD movie market, Microsoft and Nintendo have failed to. Sony has NetFlix and many other better solutions, Nintendo is not gaining any traction in this race they are too late to join.
@ Sky
You have any idea how many games Dreamcast supported?
Sorry, but comparing gamecube connectivity with a game boy pales in comparison to the remote play feature of the PSP and PS3. I can't even understand how you could try and compare them. Remote play was a new concept. Gamecube/Gameboy didn't do anything the Dreamcast couldn't.
Sorry kid, if you were around during the time of the Dreamcast and GameCube you might have understoo...
@ Active Reload
That's what happens when a console has more than one game for users to buy. The 360 sells better for multi-platforms, because they have no exclusives. PS3 exclusives are far better than multi-platform titles... This is easy to keep up with kid. More choice = distributed game purchases.
The Cell and Blu-Ray are two reasons why the PS3 has excelled. I'm not sure what basis the poster is running from, but it is incredibly misinformed.
The only real shortcoming you can point to in the PS3 design, opposed to the 360 one, is the RAM structure. They both have the same amount of RAM, but not having it shared like the 360 was a severe blow. Sure you can create kernels to share the CPU RAM for the GPU, but despite the Cell being the better processor (compared to ...
I have just connected with 7 Reference Kits, and 1 Test Kit. It is up on the developer end at least, up here in Canada.
I wonder if these users changed their passwords?
For development purposes, I just created whole new users and PSN accounts.
@DualConsoleOwner
Do you have a link you can message me for that, I'd like to see it.
If it was strictly number crunching, the PS3 might win 7:1. For games however, it shouldn't be that far apart... so I'd like to see how they tested it. thanks
The funny thing about the PS3 is that it has incredible processing capabilities, however the CPU only has access to half the RAM. The GPU of course has the other half. You can even go out of your way to get the GPU to utilize the CPU RAM through the use of a kernel... but these days, a lot of your RAM is being used by the CPU. AI is very expensive.
The PS3 forces you to cram your code efficiency down to half your RAM. The GPU RAM is usually not utilized too heavily, if your l...
Skyrim looks pretty awesome, although the kid in me is still waiting for Versus 13. FF7 was just one of those games that influenced me heavily into video games (second only to Shining Force)... so FF titles, no matter how shady at times... are always tempting.
I missed out on Warhawk, so Starhawk is pretty tempting.
And Gears 1 was my favourite 360 exclusive (if you don't count Mass Effect 2).
Yeah, our game was in the submission phase when PSN went down. We are sitting on some critical online bugs to fix, but we can't even get started on them. It's turning into a disaster.
Sony's submission results did come back to us, so they definitely have some internal online functionality working, but that should of course be fairly obvious. Again, if PSN is back, it's strictly first party (maybe second party also).
I've never seen it come...
This is not true, I couldn't connect at work all of today.
If some devs had access, I'm guessing they were first party.
There is also no message about this on their dev net.
Why settle for good?
Buy a PS3 and play great games.
I think I'm somewhere like 150 hours in. If you liked the last one, you'll love this one more. If you don't know what disgaea is or don't like strategy RPGs (think ff tactics).... well, run?!
