I've been a member since late 2010. Even if you factor out the included disc based games, avatars, themes, early beta access, timed game trials, dicounts on games/dlc. The PSN/indie titles, that are still playable even if your sub expires, easily add up to and probably surpass the $50/year sub fee. It's definitely worth it.
@sentury you only lose the "free" disc based games. PSN titles, avatars, themes, or any games/dlc you purchase never expire, if you bought it it's yours regardless of your PS+ status. So it's not the same. The game sharing with X1 is a cool feature. Only downside from what i understand is if you want to play the MP portion of the game with one of those 10 people, then they will still have to purchase their own copy of the game.
Yeah you'll definitely be able to recover everything it'll just be a pain in the arse. If those overheating issues are true there will be plenty of people to explain the process.
@blackout People won't own the games they pay full price for on X1 either. Just like PS+ if your XBL subscription expires you can't access games. Also with PS+ the only content that expires are the "free" disc based games. You still have access to the games/dlc you paid for at a discount, PSN titles, avatars, and themes.
What's sad is your level of delusion and inaccuracy of your information.
If "junior" asked me for $500 game system. I'd laugh at him, give him a book, and send him to his room. That price is gonna keep alot of "juniors" with whatever their current gaming system is.
The game sharing is IMO the only cool feature on the X1. The only bad thing is if it's a MP game and you like playing with the 10 friends/family you'll all have to purchase the game in order to play together.
In one of the E3 demos there was a controller with a yellow light bar.
Better? Convenient would be a better choice. Downfall you're paying full price to rent a game. When X1 servers get shut down, the games and system are completely useless. You'll essentially have a bunch of "blank" discs and shiny box you can't sell or trade in.
